DB 2.1

Read ADD/ADHD Alternatives in the Classroom and Implications of Changes for the Field: ADHD. In your post, discuss your thoughts on working with children/adolescents in the classroom setting. Should teachers be trained to work with these students in a different manner compared to children/adolescents without ADHD?

Thoroughly argue and defend your position by evaluating and applying appropriated developmental theory and concepts with support from module readings and other articles as you deem necessary. Keep in mind DSM 5’s criteria for ADHD and determine whether providing DSM 5 training to educators would better enable them to support students with ADHD.

On May 31, 2011, James Logan Company had a cash balance per books of $6,781.50. The bank statement from Farmers State Bank on that date showed a balance of $6,404.60. A comparison of the statement with the cash account revealed the following facts. 1.The statement included a debit memo of $40 for the printing of additional company checks. 2.Cash sales of $836.15 on May 12 were deposited in the bank. The cash receipts journal entry and the deposit slip were incorrectly made for $886.15. The bank credited Logan Company for the correct amount. 3.Outstanding checks at May 31 totaled $576.25. Deposits in transit were $1,916.15. 4.On May 18, the company issued check No. 1181 for $685 to Barry Trest, on account. The check, which cleared the bank in May, was incorrectly journalized and posted by Logan Company for $658. 5.A $2,500 note receivable was collected by the bank for Logan Company on May 31 plus $80 interest. The bank charged a collection fee of $20. No interest has been accrued on the note. 6.Included with the cancelled checks was a check issued by Bridgetown Company to Tom Lujak for $800 that was incorrectly charged to Logan Company by the bank. 7.On May 31, the bank statement showed an NSF charge of $680 for a check issued by Sandy Grifton, a customer, to Logan Company on account.

Assignment 2: T-Test

Assignment 2: T-Test

By Wednesday, June 22, 2016, post your assignment to the M2: Assignment 2 Dropbox. Any conclusion drawn for the t-test statistical process is only as good as the research question asked and the null hypothesis formulated. T-tests are only used for two sample groups, either on a pre post-test basis or between two samples (independent or dependent). The t-test is optimized to deal with small sample numbers which is often the case with managers in any business. When samples are excessively large the t test becomes difficult to manage due to the mathematical calculations involved.

Calculate the “t” value for independent groups for the following data using the formula presented in the module. Check the accuracy of your calculations. Using the raw measurement data presented above, determine whether or not there exists a statistically significant difference between the salaries of female and male human resource managers using the appropriate t-test. Develop a research question, testable hypothesis, confidence level, and degrees of freedom. Draw the appropriate conclusions with respect to female and male HR salary levels. Report the required “t” critical values based on the degrees of freedom. Your response should be 2-3 pages.

Salary Level
Female HR Directors Male HR Directors
$50,000 $58,000
$75,000 $69,000
$72,000 $73,000
$67,000 $67,000
$54,000 $55,000
$58,000 $63,000
$52,000 $53,000
$68,000 $70,000
$71,000 $69,000
$55,000 $60,000

*Do not forget what we all learned in high school about “0”s

Case Incident: The Expansion of Blue Streak

Case Incident: The Expansion of Blue Streak

Questions:

  1. What suggestions would you offer to Art to improve his operation?
  2. What management skills must Art master if he is to resolve his problems and continue to grow? Which of the categories from the textbook relate to these skills?

Case Incident 1.1

The Expansion of Blue Streak

Arthur Benton started the Blue Streak Delivery Company five years ago. Blue Streak initially provided commercial delivery services for all packages within the city of Unionville (population 1 million).

Art started with himself, one clerk, and one driver. Within three years, Blue Streak had grown to the point of requiring 4 clerks and 16 drivers. It was then that Art decided to expand and provide statewide service. He figured this would initially require the addition of two new offices, one located at Logantown (population 500,000) in the southern part of the state, and one at Thomas City (population 250,000) in the northern part of the state. Each office was staffed with a manager, two clerks, and four drivers. Because both Logantown and Thomas City were within 150 miles of Unionville, Art was able to visit each office at least once a week and personally coordinate the operations in addition to providing general management assistance. The statewide delivery system met with immediate success and reported a healthy profit for the first year.

The next year Art decided to expand and include two neighboring states. Art set up two offices in each of the two neighboring states. However, operations never seemed to go smoothly in the neighboring states. Schedules were constantly being fouled up, deliveries were lost, and customer complaints multiplied. After nine months, Art changed office managers in all four outof-state offices. Things still did not improve. Convinced that he was the only one capable of straightening out the out-of-state offices, Art began visiting them once every two weeks. This schedule required Art to spend at least half of his time on the road traveling between offices.

After four months of this activity. Art began to be tired of the constant travel; operations in the two neighboring states still had not improved. In fact, on each trip Art found himself spending all his time putting out fires that should have been handled by the office managers.

Art decided to have a one-day meeting that all of his office managers would attend to discuss problems and come up with some answers. At the meeting, several issues were raised. First, all of the managers thought Art’s visits were too frequent. Second, most of the managers did not seem to know exactly what Art expected them to do. Finally, each of the managers believed they should have the authority to make changes in their office procedures without checking with Art before making the change.

International Business Law

Complete the following two questions with a 250 word response to each question. Due date is March 20, 2015 at 12:00 noon.

1. In no less than 250 words, answer Question #4 of the Chapter Questions at the end of Chapter 9 of your text. Be sure to incorporate any relevant legal concepts and case law that may apply to this case.

The Whopper Co. is a manufacturer of gumballs. The technology and know-how to do this are well known in the scientific and engineering community in Whopper’s home country, where gumballs have been popular with consumers for decades. Whopper decided recently to expand into Country X and to introduce gumballs to a market that has never seen them before. Before doing so, Whopper filed for a patent in Country X. The local patent office examined the application as to form (it was fine), searched the local records to determine if the technology was known locally (it was not), and then published notice of the application in the Patent Gazette for public comment. There was no public comment, and the patent was issued. Now Bubble Co., a local Country X business, has begun manufacturing and selling gumballs in Country X that are identical to those being manufactured and sold by Whopper. Whopper brings suit for patent infringement. Bubble countersues to have Whopper’s patent revoked. Who will win? Explain.

2. SalesContracts. Provide a well written answer of not less than 250 words to the following. Weaver Mills Co. in Country F contracted to purchase 100,000 yards of jute from Natural Fiber Co. in Country G at US$0.64 per yard.  Natural delivered 22,228 yards to Weaver at Weaver’s plant, but it then informed Weaver that it would deliver no more.  Several other of Weaver’s suppliers also defaulted, so Weaver was forced to purchase a total of 164,503 yards of jute in the market a month later at a price of US$ 1.21 per yard.  Weaver then sued Natural for the difference between the market price it had paid and contract price on the 77,772 yards of jute that Natural had not delivered.  Both Countries F and G are signatories of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and the parties’ contract designated the CISG as the governing law.  Must Natural pay the amount Weaver demands? Explain your answer using principles of contract law and case law from your text.
