Discussion – Extraordinary Repairs

Important Note:

Your discussion post should be a minimum of 10 sentences to earn full credit.  If you struggle to find content for your initial discussion post, try incorporating other parts of the chapter or other reading material.  There is a lot of material discussed in the chapter that can be related to your post.  Discussion posts will be graded on content and length.  To earn full credit, be sure to address the topic and meet the minimum length requirement.

What makes a repair extraordinary (as opposed to ordinary)? Give an example of an ordinary and an extraordinary repair. What is the financial statement effect of recording a repair as an extraordinary repair instead of an ordinary repair?

Are useful life and physical life the same thing relative to fixed assets? Provide some examples that illustrate your answer.

ENG 125 Wk2 Discussion 2 Assignment

Character Analysis and Setting

In the stories you have read in Chapters 4-7, you have been introduced to several kinds of characters. Using a story that is different than the one you analyzed in the Literary Techniques and Their Connection to Conflict in Literature discussion, describe a character you sympathize with by answering the following questions:

  • Why did this character interest you? What choices does the character make, and how do the choices (or the result of the choices) contribute to the theme of the story?
  • What kind of conflict (internal/external) did this character encounter, and how did he/she handle it?
  • How does the setting contribute to the character’s development?
  • How does the setting contribute to the character’s experience and give the story more meaning?

As you consider these questions and answer them, incorporate readings found in Chapters 4-7 to help illustrate the points you make. Your initial post should be at least 200 words in length. The minimum word count does not include references.

Guided Response: Respond to at least two of your classmates’ initial posts. Each response should be at least 75 words in length and should address two or more of the following questions:

  • Did your classmate acknowledge the complexities in the character he/she chose? If so, how so? If not, what should he/she consider?
  • Are there other conflicts that your classmate should consider? For example, if your classmate primarily discussed a character’s external conflicts, offer an internal conflict that the character faces, or vice versa.
  • Does your classmate adequately connect the character with the setting? Are there details that he/she did not discuss but are important to the story? Why are these details important?

reflection paper on fire reaction in high-rise structure

This is for intro to fire prevention class.

Reflection Paper

For this assignment, you are asked to prepare a Reflection Paper. After you finish the reading assignment for this unit,

reflect on the concepts, choose one, and write about it. Consider the concepts that you may not fully understand; what did

not quite make sense? The purpose of this assignment is to provide you with the opportunity to reflect on the material

covered in this course and to expand upon those thoughts.

This is not a summary. A Reflection Paper is an opportunity for you to express your thoughts about the material by writing

about them.

The writing you submit must meet the following requirements:

ï‚· Be at least one page in length

ï‚· Include one historical change or event that had an impact on the current fire prevention practices.

 Include your thoughts about the concepts from this unit’s Reading Assignment

 Optional—through this Reflection Paper, consider brainstorming ideas about how you would increase the public’s

awareness about the importance of reacting to a fire. Use your creative ability and consider ideas other than what

the textbook has to offer.

Format your Reflection Paper using APA style. Use your own words, and include citations and references as needed to

avoid plagiarism.

Measures for Success

Financial managers may work alongside general services managers to address certain measures of liquidity. How might a financial manager and the department administrator for your chosen capital investment plan work together to make an effort on reducing days in accounts receivable?  If you are successful with your financial performance and are paid a bonus based on  profitability , which measure should be used?

Addressing these points  will help you as you begin to develop your capital investment plan. Your paper should be two to three  double-spaced pages in length, excluding the title and reference pages. Format your paper according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Week 2 Assignment

  1. A. What is the probability of rolling a four in the gambling dice game of craps (given two six sided dice)?

B. What is the probability that a player can roll a four 3 times in a row (assume that rolling the dice each time does not affect the outcome of the next roll)?

  1. Population A and Population B both have a mean height of 70.0 inches with an SD of 6.0.  A random sample of 30 people is picked from population A, and random sample of 50 people is selected from Population B.  Which sample mean will probably yield a more accurate estimate of its population mean?  Why?

3.             Suppose we obtained data on vein size after application of a nitroglycerin ointment in a sample of 50 patients.  The mean vein size is found to be 7.8mm with an SD of 2.1.  Using a t distribution table, what are the confidence limits for a 95% confidence interval?  For a 99% confidence interval?

4.             In a pilot study evaluating the use of a new drug to lower resting heart rates (HR) of patients, the following data was recorded:

Given that the average resting HR of the general population for this study is 72, use StatCrunch to perform the appropriate t test.  What is the value of t?  Using an alpha of 0.05, is the t statistic significant?  Why?  What are the confidence limits for a 95% confidence interval here and what do they mean for this patient group?  Copy and Paste your work from StatCrunch into your Word document submission.

5.             Write one or two sentences that could be used to report the results obtained for the t-test in Exercise 4.
