Safety considerations

Safety considerations

Identify and then discussunique safety (not security) issues you see related to each of the five modes of transportation.(Air, water, rail, and highway and Pipeline)  It is possible to identify the same considerations for some but not all modes, they all have unique dimensions. Your submission should discuss each mode and start by identifying unique safety considerations. You then should have a separate paragraph addressing safety considerations that might apply to groups of modes, there should be no safety consideration that applies to all modes, that is beyond the scope of the topic

In a Word document, include the following:

•Explain how this leader in your firm can speculate on the belief that the euro will be $1.41 in 12  months.

•Calculate the amount of profit (ignoring exchange rate fees) that can be earned and the percentage return achieved.

•Recommend whether this speculative investment or another investment with similar or higher returns at lower risk should be selected. Explain your reasoning.

•Be sure to consider how the inflation rate would affect the return.

Multicultural Policing

Multicultural Policing

In your first post, imagine you are a senior command staff member of a medium sized police department in Los Angeles County. The city has several different races and cultures living in the city. Recently, a neighboring city had an officer make a car stop of a car that was driven by a member of the minority community who was running for city council. The passenger of the vehicle immediately pulled out a cell phone and began recording the stop. The driver refused to give his driver’s license and said, “You don’t need my license. You must know who I am! You are only doing this because I’m a minority!!”

The officer tried to deescalate the problem but when a citation was issued for the initial violation and the failure to provide a driver’s license the the problem went out of control. When criticism of the officer’s actions arose the department backed the officer and tried to criticize the media for how it depicted the incident.

A severely edited video was played repeatedly on TV eventually made its way to national attention. The department was severely criticized for the actions of the officer and the department’s response to the incident.

The Chief of your department, your boss, asks you to outline a plan to deal with the following issues:

  1. How to prepare to deal with a significant incident where race is suggested as the primary issue.
  2. How to prepare to deal with the media in an incident involving race.
  3. What training would you ask the training division to prepare for your officers.
  4. What issues do you see within this problem and how would you address them?

Library Research Assignment : EMU and EURO

Library Research Assignment : EMU and EURO

Scenario

As the world economy becomes more globalized, it is expected that economic  integration will continue. There are 6 stages of economic integration:

(1)  preferential trading agreements, (2) free trade agreements, (3) customs unions, (4) common market, (5) economic and monetary union, and finally, (6) complete economic integration. Therefore, the European Union has come a long way, reaching stage 5 in 1999. It is the major monetary union of the approximately 20 monetary unions in the world today, and it is referred to as the European Economic Monetary Union, or EMU. The euro has become as important as the U.S.  dollar and is being discussed as the next international currency, either  replacing the U.S. dollar or sharing the position with the U.S. dollar as well as perhaps an Asian currency, such as the Japanese yen or Chinese yuan. For  example, several countries are buying and selling oil in euros rather than U.S.  dollars, which makes sense, given the majority of the oil transactions involve countries that use the euro. Other areas of the world are considering monetary unions, such as Southeast Asia and North America. Many countries’ central banks

hold U.S. dollars for transactions involving oil and other international  transactions, which also helps support the value of the U.S. dollar.

Library Research Assignment

Your firm is expanding into Europe, and your department head has asked you to put together a report on monetary unions in general, include the following:

Discuss the advantages and disadvantages relative to a nation maintaining its own individual currency.

Discuss the EMU and the euro in detail, including the following:

its history the countries involved its implementation how it has functioned over the last decade, noting any issues that had to be overcome How did the International Monetary Fund (IMF) reassign the special drawing rights (SDR) as a result of changing from several European currencies to the euro?

Discuss whether the EMU helped or hindered the development of the European

Union.

Conclude the report with a brief discussion on the possible advantages and

disadvantages of the amero, a possible common currency for Canada, Mexico, and

the United States, which has come up in the press from time to time. Discuss why

you would favor or be against a common currency for North America
