What surprises me about academic writing is that there are many various academic types of writing. I have learned that not all writings need to have the same outline, yet may still be formal. I have also learned that writing can still be formal as long as it is appropriate for the situations. Academic writing is diverse in that if varies in subject and audience and context. Academic writing can also be complex because the writer needs to use the precise words to covey the thoughts in order to make the reader or audience understand the same thoughts. I believe academic writing is somewhat similar to work writing because of need to get to the point in a professional matter. However, being in the military, most of the professional writing which I have done is usually following a premade template which involves little to no thinking. Now that I am getting a better foundation of what is appropriate for certain writing styles, I will be able to implement my own thoughts in a formal manner.

Please read this decision(attached file)  by the Iowa Supreme Court in an attorney discipline case and answer these four questions:
[a] Should judges care if attorneys submit legal briefs or written motions that are plagiarized? Please explain your answer.
[b] Attorney Peter Cannon was punished by the court and by the attorney disciplinary board. Do you think these punishments (taken as a whole) were too lenient, too severe, or about right? Please explain your answer.
[c] The Iowa Supreme Court referred to another case involving attorney plagiarism (Iowa Supreme Court Board of Professional Ethics & Conduct v. Lane). In that case, the punishment for attorney Lane (suspension of his license to practice) was more severe than the punishment imposed on attorney Cannon. What distinction did the court make between these two cases?  Do you agree with the court’s reasoning? Please explain your answer.
[d] The state of Florida requires “personal appearances before the [disciplinary] board for public reprimands for disciplined lawyers” [italics added]. Do you think this kind of public shaming is appropriate or too harsh? Please explain your answer.

Carbon footprint is a term used to describe the impact an individual has on the release of carbon compounds, including carbon dioxide, into the environment. This carbon footprint is commonly produced by the burning of fossil fuels. With the burning of fossil fuels comes the release of many pollutants that cause health concerns, such as the release of particulate matter on the respiratory system. Reflect on individuals you know with respiratory, immune, or hepatic system concerns. How can the environmental toxicants affect their health? Whose responsibility do you think it should be to see that the carbon footprint from our community is reduced to minimize adverse health effects?1 PAGE

Assume that we can use either a Wheatstone Bridge (strain based) or a variable capacitance pressure sensor for a given industrial application. Discuss the pros and cons of each of these types of pressure sensors.
A pressure measurement can be characterized by the type of measurement being performed. Because of the wide range of conditions, ranges, and materials for which pressure measurement must be conducted, there are several different types of pressure sensors available. So the question is, what pressure sensor should be used for a specific industrial application? In this activity, we discuss the factors influencing the selection of a pressure sensor for a given industrial application.

Option #1: Critical Thinking: Cars
An expert who works for a car magazine obtained random data (rounded to the nearest thousand) among two categories of used or new cars:
Domestic
Foreign
The expert would like to understand sales based on list price (rounded to the nearest thousand dollars), sale price (rounded to the nearest thousand dollars), and number of days it takes to sell each car. The complete data set is in the file named Cars.
Managerial Report
Prepare a report (see Module folder) that summarizes your assessment of the nature of the car market. Be sure to include the following seven items in your report.
Descriptive statistics (mean, median, range, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation) to summarize each of the three variables for the all Domestic cars. Use z-scores to determine if there any outliers in the data set for any of the three variables. If there are any outliers in any category, please list them and state for which category they are an outlier. If a result is an outlier, state whether it is below or above the mean.
Descriptive statistics (mean, median, range, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation) to summarize each of the three variables for the all Foreign cars. Use z-scores to determine if there any outliers in the data set for any of the three variables. If there are any outliers in any category, please list them and state for which category they are an outlier. If a result is an outlier, state whether it is below or above the mean.
Compare your summary results from #1 and #2. Discuss any specific statistical results that would help the car expert understand the car market.
Develop a 98% confidence interval estimate of the population mean sales price and population mean number of days to sell for Domestic cars. What is the Margin of error? What are the lower (or left) and upper (or right) endpoints of the confidence interval? Interpret your results.
Develop a 98% confidence interval estimate of the population mean sales price and population mean number of days to sell for Foreign cars. What is the Margin of error? What are the lower (or left) and upper (or right) endpoints of the confidence interval? Interpret your results.
Assume the car expert requested estimates of the mean number of days to sell for the Domestic cars with a margin of error of seven days and the mean number of days of Foreign cars with a margin of error of eight days. Using 98% confidence, how large should the sample sizes be for each?
Suppose a Domestic car has a list price of $30,000 and a Foreign car has a list price of $30,000. What is your estimate of the final selling price (based on the percent difference for the sale and list price) and number of days required to sell each of these cars?
Write a report that adheres to the Written Assignment Requirements under the heading “  As with all written assignments you should have in-text citations and a reference page. An example paper is provided in the MTH410 Guide to Writing with Statistics. (link provided in the Modules tab)
Submit your Excel file in addition to your report.
   Requirements:
Paper must be written in third person.
Your paper should be four to five pages in length (counting the title page and references page) and cite and integrate at least one credible outside source. The is a great place to find resources.
Include a title page, introduction, body, conclusion, and a reference page.
The introduction should describe or summarize the topic or problem. It might discuss the importance of the topic or how it affects you or society as a whole, or it might discuss or describe the unique terminology associated with the topic.
The body of your paper should answer the questions posed in the problem. Explain how you approached and answered the question or solved the problem, and, for each question, show all steps involved. Be sure this is in paragraph format, not numbered answers like a homework assignment.
The conclusion should summarize your thoughts about what you have determined from the data and your analysis, often with a broader personal or societal perspective in mind. Nothing new should be introduced in the conclusion that was not previously discussed in the body paragraphs.
Include any tables of data or calculations, calculated values, and/or graphs associated with this problem in the body of your assignment.
Document formatting, citations, and style should conform to the APA

Assignment Practice Scenario
Your Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) recognizes you are pursuing your BSN and has asked you to be a member of the nursing evidence-based practice (NEBP) committee. She has advised the members that the purpose is to conduct nursing research studies involving clinical practice problems. Increasing nurses’ awareness of quality and safety concerns will help develop an attitude of inquiry and asking questions (Sherwood & Barnsteiner, 2017). Baccalaureate nurses “collaborate in problem identification, participate in the process of search, retrieval, and documentation of evidence, and integrate evidence using credible databases and internet resources” (AACN, 2008, pp. 16-17).
The CNE has advised all members of the following areas of quality and safety clinical practice that each committee member needs to consider and choose one as a priority area for conducting a research study. Sources of research problems come from nursing clinical practice (Houser, 2018):
QualitySafetyPatient satisfaction
Patient educationFallsNon-pharmacological pain managementErrors (any). Examples include:
Medication
Patient identification
Communication
Readmissions
Length of stay
CostsHealthcare Associated Infections (HAIs). (Any type)
Examples include:
Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections (CLABSI)
Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI)
Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP)
Surgical Site Infections (SSI)
SepsisDischarge Teaching/Coaching
Transitions of Care/Level of CarePressure Ulcers
Skin Integrity
Your CNE has requested that you are to select one area and complete the PPL Worksheet using that topic. The committee will collaborate and decide as a team which nursing clinical problem area will be the priority focus of their next research study. Thank you for your valuable contributions to this important NEBP committee.

Experts in the field of special education are knowledgeable about historical, p

Experts in the field of special education are knowledgeable about historical, philosophical, and legal foundations impacting the field as they relate to the protection of student and family rights. Special education leaders are savvy in their craft and able to effectively collaborate with colleagues to plan individualized educational programs and articulate the services, resources, materials, equipment, and needs of students with exceptionalities.
The role of collaboration and consultation is particularly critical in the field of special education, allowing both the special education and the general education expert the opportunity to formulate the most appropriate plans for students using their expertise. In addition, social and emotional competencies are essential, as neither collaboration nor consultation exist void of a relationship with other people.
For this Discussion, you will take on the role of a team leader, in which you will examine the facts and information presented in the case study and module Learning Resources to formulate recommendations for an action plan.
To prepare:
· Enter the Grand City interactive community and locate West Ridge Middle School. View the case study video titled, “The New Student.”
· Review all module Learning Resources.
· Consider what you might do as the grade level team leader with respect to Jamal’s current situation. How might you formulate a plan of action recommending what you would do next for Jamal?
As you form your recommendations for a plan of action, consider the following:
· What are the issues identified in the case study?
· What are the facts the principal and teachers need to consider in planning for Jamal?
· Were there any issues related to cultural diversity and cultural responsive practice? If so, what were they?
· What would be the initial steps for the team to consider regarding response to intervention (RTP) to support Jamal in the regular education classroom?
· What additional resources and/or personnel would be needed to assist in further identifying, understanding, and/or supporting Jamal?
· Are there any ethical implications and issues of integrity related to special education, Jamal and his mother, and/or the school and program that need to be considered? If so, what are they?
· What are the relevant cultural and linguistic diversity considerations you would need to keep in mind with regard to the students and families? What external factors (i.e., culture, language, social and emotional, etc…) need to be considered? How might these impact student learning?
· What actions are needed related to preparing for Jamal to be successful in the regular education environment?
By Day 3 of Week 4
Post, from the perspective of the team leader, a plan of action for what you would do next for Jamal. Clearly explain the next steps along with your rationale and research-based strategies to:
· Address the concerns presented by Jamal’s mother.
· Assist Jamal in his transitioning to the school.
· Support the teachers who will be working with Jamal.
Assignment:  Becoming a Scholarly Practitioner
As you continue in your advanced graduate program and work towards becoming a special education scholar-practitioner, you become equipped to handle the complex issues involved in creating individualized educational plans and services to advance the learning of students with exceptionalities. Scholar-practitioners are aware that all students do not learn in the same manner, nor follow the same path to achieve academic success.
As a result, there is no single prescription for success, rather a commitment to the field of special education and a compilation of research-based strategies and best practices to create meaningful learning opportunities for students with exceptionalities. Scholar-practitioners participate in professional learning communities in which they engage in rich discussions and collaboration to develop comprehensive curricular agendas, while sharing best practices and the latest in research in the field of education.
For this Assignment, you will synthesize credible research while identifying best practices, innovations, and strategies to support and make sound educational decisions.
To prepare:
· Enter the Grand City interactive community and locate West Ridge Middle School. Re-view the case study video titled, “The New Student.”
· Review all module Learning Resources.
· Gather at least 3 scholarly articles to support your educational plan of action, along with your reflection and rationale identified in the discussion related to the case study.
Imagine that you are one of the teachers in the video and the principal has asked you to create an educational plan of action. You are to give this plan of action to the other teachers who will be working with Jamal so they can be prepared to foster his success in school.
Your educational plan of action must summarize Jamal’s strengths and needs and identify best practices and research-based resources that will be beneficial to his situation. The plan should be a minimum of 2 pages. Include at least 2 best practices and 2 resources while considering at least 3 of these topics in your plan:
· Response to Intervention (RTI)
· Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
· Cultural Responsive Teaching
· Cultural Awareness and Diversity
· Assessments (Informal and Formal)
· Behavioral Intervention
· Ethical and Legal Implications
· Data Recording (Academic and Behavior)
Be sure to support your educational plan of action with current scholarly resources.
