 Self- Evaluation of Informative Presentation
Instructions
View your presentation several times and objectively complete your self-evaluation. Follow the these guidelines to write your self-evaluation:

Format:  The memo should be single spaced with Arial or Times New Roman, 12-point font. Your memo should be no longer than 1 ½  pages.  The format should include headings. See Meyer page 180 for Memo Format.

Content:  The memo is your self-evaluation of your speech; I want your reactions and opinions.  Because it is a self-evaluation, you should use the first person address (e.g, “this memorandum identifies my skills, weaknesses, and areas for improvement”). Do not include phrasing such as, “my classmates said/felt/thought. . .”  Your classmates already gave you feedback; it’s your turn. Include behaviors you perceive to be your strengths and your weaknesses; provide specific actions you’ll take to improve in your next presentation (i.e., what will you do to ensure you make the suggested improvement?).  Be thorough with your evaluation. Avoid saying “I think,” “I feel,” or “I believe” because all thoughts in memo are what you think, feel, or believe.
Organization:  Begin with a brief introduction to state the memo’s purpose and to preview the headed sections.  Include three main sections: strengths, weaknesses, and strategies for improvement. Discuss your ideas in paragraphs with proper topic sentences and appropriately grouped details. Importantly, for each weakness, you must have a strategy for improvement. Improvement strategies should clearly correlated to weaknesses and appear in the same order. End your self evaluation memo with a brief conclusion restating your purpose, summarizing your main points, and commenting on your overall view of the presentation experience.
Mechanics:  Carefully edit, proofread, and revise your memo for mechanical accuracy (grammar, spelling, and punctuation) and effective use of language issues (clarity, conciseness, sentence structure).

Specificity:  Did you discuss your observations in      specific and concrete (not general or abstract) terms?

Format:  Does the memo follow the instructions for      formatting?
