Derive Chezy formula and hence Darcy-Weisbach equation for head loss in circular pipes under incompressible, steady and uniform turbulent flow condition. State the relationship between the two formulas.

By using the resistance coefficient concept. derive the equivalent resistance for pipelines in series and also that for pipelines in parallel.

Two reservoirs having a difference of level of 18 m are connected by a straight pipe, 450 mm in diameter and 900 in long, which connects to the upper reservoir 2.4 m below the surface, and to the lower one 1.5 m below the surface. If f is 0.008, calculate the flow in the pipe and the pressure at a point 300 m from the discharge end. Neglect any losses other than friction.

I fa 300 mm main with the same friction factor is connected in parallel with the 450 mm main over the last 300 111, what will be the flow from the upper reservoir and the pressure at the branch point?
