Week 5 – Final Paper
Evaluating Advertisements [WLOs: 3] [CLOs: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]In Week Three, you analyzed an advertisement for a global product based on a set of advertising concepts. You are going to use your week three assignment and build on that in your final paper. For your Final Paper, locate one additional advertisement for the same product, using the same medium, but targeted for a different country (e.g., if you chose a print ad for Pepsi in the United States for Week Three, you might choose a print ad for Pepsi in Japan for this assignment).Although these two advertisements were designed for the same product and the same medium, you should notice a few differences, based on the target market. Examine the similarities and differences between the two advertisements. In your eight- to 10-page paper, Provide a brief overview of the two countries selected (e.g., location, general characteristics, etc.), the company, and the product being advertised (note: this should be the same product for both advertisements).

Is work important for you?

PHIL 2306 Ethics Spring 2018
Is Hard Work Good for You?
We have discussed the value of at least three overlapping but distinct kinds of work: 1) Work as necessary or important responsibilities/chores/actions you may have to fulfill, but which you find unpleasant or wish you could avoid. Examples of this type could include everything from going to school, studying for exams, training for and getting a job, taking care of children or the needy, cleaning the house, etc. 2) Work as employment to produce the goods and services necessary for society while also providing income and an occupation to individuals. This type of work focuses on the economic functions jobs or employment provide for both individuals and communities. For example, manufacturing jobs may help a society produce goods and equipment to perform various functions and services, while also allowing for workers to have an occupation (something to do) and income to cover life necessities and other expenses while stimulating the economy. 3) Work as vocation that gives meaning to ones life directly from either the purpose or experience of the work/task itself. This type of work can be a job you are hired to perform or a self-employed vocation that you choose for yourself. But with this type of work you receive positive well-being (an improved life) directly from the work itself and not (just) because the work helps you make money. So, a job someone does not enjoy or find meaningful, but does anyway simply to make money would only count as work under the first two types, since it is not a vocation. Whereas a job you enjoy and find deeply meaningful, but which also provides food, shelter, and income may qualify as an example of work of all three types since it is a vocation and performs the economic functions of ordinary employment and may also be something you must do even on days when you would rather be doing something else. On the other hand, going to school for example would only count as work of the first type for many people since it is not usually a vocation and it is also not a form of employment, but instead is simply something one must do to either get a job or achieve something else. For this paper topic, consider these three types of work and the role they may play in making life good or bad for individuals and communities and answer one or both of the following two questions. In other words, you can choose to write your paper focusing exclusively on one of these two questions to provider greater depth or answer both questions.
A) Given your probable desire to balance the extremes found in the case of a Life of Leisure with those of Working Life and the article we read regarding the value of work, what do you think work is for in the life of the individual? What role should it play in your life to make your life better? Is a job or career simply a way to make money to survive and pay for goods or should it do more, such as provide a vocation and meaning to your life? For this question, you should discuss all three of the distinct types of work discussed above and determine what role they play in determining the quality of an individuals life.
B) Take a wide social perspective and think about what is good for society as well as for individuals. From a macro-level perspective, what is work for? Is it simply a means of production, a way to produce the goods and services necessary to operate our society and make our lives comfortable? Or is work about more than the outputs it produces? What implications does this have for incorporating technology and automation into our lives. If robots can perform our jobs better than we can, should we replace human workers with robots? If you think robots should replace some jobs but not others, what is your criteria for determining which jobs should be replaced
PHIL 2306 Ethics Spring 2018
and which should not? Remember, in principle robots can potentially do virtually any task a human being can, so be specific. To answer these questions recall the more mindful and deliberate approach to integrating modern technology that the Amish and New London practice and notice that the Amish and New London place a much higher priority on some of the three types of work identified above when compared to our own society where technology is released almost immediately upon discovery regardless of its impact or threat to various types of work so long as the new technology does not have obvious flaws (such as cause explosions/poison/death etc.) What are the benefits and costs of each approach? Which approach is best for societies overall (or at least best for our society)?
A good essay will:
– For Question B: Identify which of the distinct types of work (of the three identified above) are prioritized by the Amish and New London (they are somewhat different from each other) and what role they play in their respective societies as compared to our own society.
– Briefly consider how each of the three theories of well-being would approach these questions as appropriate.
– Include a thesis that is focused and appropriate given the assignment.
– Clearly and succinctly state the main argument for the thesis.
– Correctly identify and defend your arguments controversial premises using
sound reasoning, well-chosen examples, insightful analogies, etc.
– While defending your argument, make sure you play devils advocate and
try to include and develop the most clear and compelling reasons to reject
your argument/thesis.
– You should then respond to this negative case to the best of your ability to
convince your audience to support your view.

Is there a type of music you listen to or are familiar with that is in some way influenced by economic concerns?

Writing Assignment #3: The PatronA consistent theme we have focused on over the past few weeks has been the relationship between money and music, specifically the role of aristocratic, wealthy patrons in the history of Western art music. Whether this is a French king, an Italian Duke, or a German church leader, money and power have made their mark on the kinds of music that were written and performed during the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods.
In a thoughtful essay, discuss TWO genres of music that we have studied so far this semester that you feel were largely influenced by power and patronage. Tell me why you think this is true, supporting your argument with information about how the genre was created and developed under the support of wealthy patrons. Where was this music performed? How was it supported? Who wrote it and performed it, and what was their relationship to their patrons? How did those patrons determine the character of that genre and the purpose it served? (Polyphonic Music and the Renaissance AND Mozart and Sonata Form)
Then, give me your thoughts on how money and power continue to influence music today. Is there a type of music you listen to or are familiar with that is in some way influenced by economic concerns? How and/or why? And how does that compare and contrast to the two genres of Western art music you discussed previously?

A. Begin by reading through the entire document, A Practitioners Guide to Ethical Decision Making. This is necessary BEFORE you begin to apply the decision making steps to an ethical scenario.
B. After reading the ethical decision making document above, choose one of the ethical dilemmas from the document entitled, Ethical Decision Making Paper Scenarios, found under the assignment instructions in bb . Read and analyze the chosen scenario.
C. Approach the scenario as if it has already happened and now you must address the problems the scenario has created. In other words, as in much of real life and practice, you must now do damage control.
D. To apply the steps of the ethical decision making model to your chosen scenario, divide the body of your paperformatted in current APA styleinto the steps outlined in the A Practioners Guide to Ethical Decision Making document, and outlined below, making sure to address all questions for each section: Identify the problem(s). In this section make sure to:

Describe Head Pillow Marketing strategy

write something similar to this: Marketing Strategy:In this section we will go over the main aspects of our marketing strategy, which will behighlighted by discussing the 4 Ps & 4 As.We chose to address the 4 Ps in our marketing plan as follows: Our product is TheDry Umbrella which is an umbrella that is made out of water wicking material as opposed totraditional umbrellas which are typically made out of Nylon Taffeta which is a fabric used tomake more than 50% of umbrellas available in the United States. Our positioning is betweenMore for Same or More for More, because at the price of $35.00, our product is on the moreexpensive side of the average price Americans are willing to spend on umbrellas, which isdiscussed in the sections proceeding. Our price of $35.00 was determined by utilizing acombination of analyzing the prices of like products on the market (competition based pricing)and determining how low of a price we could have with still having a probable chance ofbreaking even (cost-based pricing). And our promotional strategy will be a pull method ofadvertising, which will use a combination of demographic and occasion segmentation (thegeneral market), as well as individual and event based marketing (for corporations/companies),the in depth justification of this strategy can be found in Appendix 4.Now we will move on the discuss the 4 As. Acceptability and Affordability will begroup together in this play; in order to make an Made in America acceptable in the UnitedStates, the price had to be comparable to the substitute goods that can be produced and importedfrom overseas (25). The accessibility of our product is one of our weakest points, because in9
order to keep our price competitive to umbrellas produced in China we cannot use generic retailtechniques in order to distribute the products. Instead, we will be using exclusive distribution, and in the first year offer our goods exclusively through our website and through the events andindividuals we chose to market to on a case by case basis. And our Awareness will come from anintensive digital marketing campaign as well as through companies that chose to partner with us,which we will discuss more in our action plan.****The product we chose is very similar to the ostrich head pillow but without the full face covering.Marketing Strategies
Product: travel pillow
Price: ?
Place: airports, train stations, bus ports, stores like target walmart, online shopping
Promotion: social media ads, magazines (SkyMall)Mr. Terrell, the tall tech manager who travels frequently on United, hasn’t experienced the Polaris seat yet. He appreciates the new Polaris gel pillows, which keep heads cooler (McCartney, 2018).
By listening to opinions of customers we can gage how we can alter our product to align with their needs, in this case we should consider a gel aspect of our pillow because this flier likes that it keeps the head cool
We can use this as a strategy when marketing our travel pillow – use the words of actual consumers to make the advertising message stronger
