Week 5 Assignment Situational Ledership theory and organizational leadership

As the new top-level executive of a medium-sized corporation, you have noticed that the leadership culture in the organization has been ineffective, which has lowered employee morale. To change the leadership culture you have decided to discuss this issue with all the managers and supervisors in the organization. Prior to meeting with all the managers and supervisors, you have decided that you need to develop a how-to guide on effective leadership.

In a four- to five-page paper (excluding the title and references pages), explain why situational leadership theory is useful and relevant in developing an effective leadership culture. Describe the three theories of situational leadership and what you consider to be the strengths and weaknesses of each theory when leading staff in the organizational environment.

The written assignment should include at least three scholarly sources, in addition to the text, and be formatted according to APA  style

unit 2 ip 3-5 pages Victim Advocacy

Since your graduation from AIU, you have been working as the victims’ assistant advocate for the office of the local county prosecutor. You have a great working relationship with the prosecutor, Mary, and the remainder of the office. Normally, when you speak, the staff and prosecutor know you are speaking from a knowledge base that you have gained from personal experience, research, and reading, so they know that your comments are facts. You like to use APA format to cite your sources, but this bulleted paper does not need to be in APA format.

You have decided to speak with the prosecutor, Mary, on behalf of Maureen, the college student who was a victim of date rape. You want to convince Mary to support a change in the prosecutor’s policy of not prosecuting date rape cases when drugs or alcohol are involved. Maureen has a strict policy: when someone wants to speak with her about changing an established policy, she wants the person to submit a paper of 3–5 pages containing topic bullets outlining his or her argument for the policy change prior to meeting her. She feels this way, she is not blind-sided, and she has an opportunity to research the topic prior to the meeting.

You follow her policy and write a paper using bullets only, hoping that you can persuade Mary and the chief prosecutor to change their policy or, at a minimum, meet with you for a discussion about changing the policy. Maureen knows other young women are being attacked and that very often, date rape drugs are being used.

Mary has agreed to review your policy change letter if you write it. You write the policy change paper in which where you have the following two goals:

  • Educate Mary about date rape using statistics and information about date rape and date rape drugs to show her that Maureen is one of the types of victims who perpetrators take advantage of in these situations.
  • Explain why not prosecuting the cases is the wrong public and social policy. Of course, you are also hopeful that the victim, Maureen, also receives help in her case.

To organize your efforts before your meeting, create a detailed outline in bullet form that contains information for the following 5 topics:

  • List Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) and the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) reported crime statistics relating to rape and the strengths and weaknesses of each type of reporting.
  • Define the term date rape (or acquaintance rape—the terms are interchangeable) and how date rape (acquaintance rape) is distinguished from stranger rape, statutory rape, and spousal rape.
  • List the types and uses of date rape drugs.
  • Describe the victim–offender relationship, including the following:
    • How victims are viewed by perpetrators of date rape
    • The special problems of date rape prosecutions
    • How society and jurors may view date rape (blaming the victim based on the perceived precipitation, facilitation, or provocation of the victim)
  • What is your position on this issue, and what action do you think would impact this social policy?

Week 05 Discussion – Diversity Within Groups – Good or Bad

One of the most important tasks that you will have as a health services manager is the development and management of teams. When you need to form a team, one thing that you will have to consider is the composition of that team.

In your opinion, is diversity within teams good or bad? Would you try to form teams of people who are all alike, or would you strive for a diverse mix of members? How does group composition, or diversity in the mix of members, affect group performance? Consider differences such as ethnicity, gender, skills, expertise, traits, and attitudes. Use at least one specific example to back up your opinion.

Managing Online Learning

Managing Online Learning

Managing Online Learning. Last week you started to create the online component of your blended course. This week, you build upon it and create a learning module.
Perform the following tasks:

Step 1: Create an Online Learning Module.

Using the same process you used last week to create your Course Description, create a learning module. While in the edit mode and on the Homepage, add a “Content Area” and label it “Module 1.” To review how this is done, view the “Modifying the Course Menu” video within the “Getting Started with CourseSites” training under “Build.”

Once you have created Module 1, you must add the following items to that module:

  • A description of the topics that Module 1 will cover.
  • An assignment to be completed. This can be an assignment of your choice. Just make sure that it relates to your course and the topic of the module and that you provide a full set of directions for students.
  • A link to a discussion forum that students will take part in. Make sure that you provide a complete discussion prompt that is relevant to your course and the topic of the module.

The description can be added from the “Build Content” dropdown and selecting “Item.” The Assignment can be added from the “Assessment” dropdown and selecting “Assignment.” The discussion forum can be added from the “Tools” dropdown and selecting “Discussion Board.”

Step 2: Provide an Overview of Learning Management Systems.

Use your textbook, the Internet, or other resources to research. Write a three-to five-page summary (not including title and references pages) of learning management systems. Be sure to:

  • Investigate and analyze at least three examples of established learning management systems. Distinguish whether the LMS you found is proprietary or open source. Point out some of the key features that the three examples share and features that are different
  • Research the benefits, availability, and accessibility of using different types of learning management systems.
  • Highlight the uses of the learning management systems and the techniques for using them effectively.
  • Provide a reflection (minimum 150 words) on your experience in working with the CourseSites LMS.
  • Provide a link to your CourseSites course.
  • Be sure to cite a minimum of three scholarly sources other than the textbook using proper APA formatting.

 Writing the Final Project

  • Your Summary:
  • Must be three to five double-spaced pages in length, and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  • Must include a title page with the following:
    • Title of paper
    • Student’s name
    • Course name and number
    • Instructor’s name
    • Date submitted
  • Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.
  • Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
  • Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.
  • Must use at least three scholarly sources.
  • Must document all sources in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  • Must include a separate reference page, formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Write a script that receives as input the values of V and Rs, and makes a vector R with element values that range from 0.1*Rs to 10*Rs in increments of 0.1*Rs. Use a for loop to create a vector of power delivered to each element value of R. Then, plot the power P versus R. Do this for V = 10 volts, Rs = 10 Ohms and Rs = 100 Ohms. For each case, from inspection of the plots, give a value of R such that V delivers the maximum power to R. Provide a script listing and plots, including axes labels and titles.

Assignment 1: LASA 2: Ethnographic Comparison

Anthropologists are interested in framing broad hypotheses about human behavior. In order to do this, it is imperative to use examples from multiple cultures to ensure that their conclusions are not grounded in a single case.

In this assignment, you will be taking on the role of an ethnologist, using multiple ethnographic accounts to study human behavior and culture.

Do the following:

  • Identify two to three societies to compare such as African, Indian, Chinese, Korean, or Native American. Please note that these are suggested societies; you may choose something not on this list.
  • Choose one aspect of human culture discussed in the course:
    • Domestic life and kinship
    • Subsistence and economy
    • Religion
    • Culture change

Using the module readings, Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, write a research paper to include the following:

  • Describe the background information of each of the societies you have chosen. You need not analyze this background information, only provide details regarding these societies.
  • Analyze the aspect of human culture you selected for each of the societies.
  • Compare and contrast the similarities and differences between the societies in relation to the topic you chose—for example, standard of living, education, or employment opportunities.
  • Summarize and address human behavior in relation to your topic and based on your examples.
    • Address the realities of life for the cultures you have examined.
    • Examine some of the social problems and public policy issues that become apparent.

Your paper should have a title page as well as an introduction section. This introduction section should include the societies you selected as well as the human culture aspect you will be discussing and why it is relevant to anthropology. As an anthropologist, use relevant anthropological terms in your analysis.

Support your statements with examples and scholarly references.

Write a 4–6-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M5_A1.doc.

By Monday, October 27, 2014, deliver your assignment to the M5: Assignment 1 Dropbox.
