DB5 LESS THAN ONE PAGE

The Discussion Board (DB) is part of the core of online learning. Classroom discussion in an online environment requires the active participation of students and the instructor to create robust interaction and dialogue. Every student is expected to create an original response to the open-ended DB question as well as engage in dialogue by responding to posts created by others throughout the week. At the end of each unit, DB participation will be assessed based on both level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion.

At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students. The first contribution must be posted before midnight (Central Time) on Wednesday of each week. Two additional responses are required after Wednesday of each week. Students are highly encouraged to engage on the Discussion Board early and often. The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow students to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the DB question. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each unit.

Imagine you work for a small clinic that offers counseling. Recently, a large number of people have come in wanting to seek treatment for their depression. In order to address this need, you’ve been asked to create a brochure that explains depression and its treatments.

Create a 6 to 8 panel brochure which does the following:

  • Defines “psychological disorders” and “abnormal behavior.”
  • Describes the classification to which depression belongs.
  • Differentiates this classification from other classifications of psychological disorders.
  • Describes depression and its symptoms.
  • Explains treatment options, including the pros and cons for each type of therapy.

Note. You can use the Brochure Builder to create your brochure and save it as a PDF to submit or you can create your own brochure using Microsoft Word or another software. Also, be sure to properly cite any resources you use.

GOOGLESCHOLAR ONLY

Please review the American Literature Study Guide (also in Doc Sharing) to help you with this assignment.

Important note: In individual work, express your own ideas and do not use outside sources. Using outside sources can lower your scores, and often they can lead to plagiarism.

At this point, you have read works in five genres: speeches, essays, poetry, short stories, and drama. You have also discussed the works of nearly twenty authors and have examined the historical eras and events that influenced their works.

  1. Write a reflective essay of 250 words (one page) about your experience studying American literature this term.
  2. Important: Your paper must have a well developed introduction, body, and conclusion.
  • Include at least two of the works from the entire term.
  • Which works have had the greatest impact upon you?
  • Which of the readings did you relate to personally because of your own life experiences?
  • If there was a character with whom you identified, which one was it?
  • Why do you think you felt a connection with that character?
  • Please format the essay correctly by doing the following:
    • Make sure that your essay is double-spaced.
    • Use only a standard 12 pt. font, such as “Times” or “Times New Roman” (no italics, bold, or fancy fonts).
    • Indent paragraphs five spaces and have one-inch margins on all sides.
    • Your essay should conform to the APA style for formatting and citations, but for this assignment, you should only have one citation, which is the main anthology since no outside sources should be used.
    • Use only your own ideas about the readings. Authentic, personal, and insightful responses earn more points, while essays that use material from outside sources may receive a reduction in points.
