Please read the following in anticipation for Wednesday’s viewing of
    Endgameby Samuel Beckett
.For your final 3.5-4 page assignment, I ask that you build a FOCUSED and COORDINATED paper upon ONE of these three prompts. I ask that you engage with only what

-provides you the most in-depth critical responses above mere summary-prompts you to ask further challenging questions-drives you toward creative connections and insights and or-helps draw connections between details within the play.

    *Due via email December 13th*

    * * *

    CHARACTERS:

    Hamm–unable to stand and blind
Clov–Hamm’s servant; unable to sit. Taken in by Hamm as a child.
Nagg–Hamm’s father; has no legs and lives in a dustbin.
Nell–Hamm’s mother; has no legs and lives in a dustbin next to Nagg.

—“I love the old questions, the old answers, there’s nothing like them.”
    — -“Do you believe in the life to come?” -“Mine was always that.”

    —–

    1) Many phrases are repeated over the course of conversation in the play, and the theme of repetition is also alluded to throughout. Hamm, for instance, often repeats “we’re getting on,” or asks “is it not time for my painkiller?” Nagg says that he tells his joke “worse and worse” each time. What do you make of repetition in this play? In any case, don’t simply identify language that alludes to repetition, but use particular incidences to think for yourself extensively about the play’s style/attitude/philosophy.

    2) Why doesn’t Clov leave Hamm, despite their contentious relationship? Does this unwillingness, or inability, help you understand other relationships in the play, or to elucidate its ending?

    3) Does this play ultimately show us a glimmer of hope, or do you find it absolutely hopeless? Hope for what? And, or, what would hope look like in regards to this play? Does humor play a role in your decision, in either case? A thoughtful argument toward either case will nonetheless be conflicted/complicated.

In any case, you may also consider what you can learn about this play and Beckett’s message by referencing the other Beckett productions we watched in class.

    1. A company uses the following metric to gauge product quality. Once a bug is reported, that same bug is closed if it cannot be recreated by the testing team. Naturally, this lead to a high defect fix rate. Based on what you’ve learned in Chapter 17, concisely identify at least two problems with this approach. As the testing manager, how would you modify this plan to more accurately reflect product quality?

    2. Dijkstra asserts that “Program testing can be used to show the presence of bugs, but never to show their absence!” Explain this statement.

    3. What is Software Quality? How do you know when the software provided is considered good software? And how do you know that an update is better than the previous version?

    4. You are assigned the task of creating a program that adds two two-digit integers. Can you test the program exhaustively? If so, how many test cases are required? Assuming that each test case can be executed and analyzed in one second, how long would it take for you to run all of the tests?

    5. In his article discussing Software Metrics, Kan discusses using Lines of Code (LOC) to assess product quality. Is this a good metric? Why or why not? Support your answer.

The Hickory Cabinet and Furniture Company produces sofas, tables, and chairs….

The Hickory Cabinet and Furniture Company produces sofas, tables, and chairs. The plant uses three main resources to make furniture – wood, upholstery, and labor. The resource requirements for each piece of furniture and the total resources available weekly are as follows. The furniture is produced on a weekly basis and stored in the warehouse until the end of the week, when it is shipped out. The warehouse has a total capacity of 650 pieces of furniture. Each sofa earns $300 in profit, each table $200, and each chair $150. The company wants to know how many pieces of each type of furniture to make per week to maximize profit. The worksheet named “Hickory 1” contains a template for solving this LP problem. Answer the parts below, and then use the LP template to solve for the maximum profit. (6 points) Be sure to choose “Simplex LP” and check the “Make Unconstrained Variables Non-Negative” box. a. 1 Point: In cell B3, use the Excel’s built-in function named “SUMPRODUCT” to write a formula for the objective function. Be sure to reference the appropriate cells. b. 3 Points: In cells B9:D9, enter the profit coefficients for the objective function. c. 6 Points: In cells B12:D15, enter the constraint coefficients for each of the four constraints. d. 2 Points: In cells E12:E15, enter the appropriate constraint values. e. 4 Points: In cells F12:F15, use the “SUMPRODUCT” function to write a formula for the amount of each resource used or limitation imposed. Be sure to reference the appropriate cells. f. 4 Points: In cells G12:G15, write the appropriate formulas to determine the amount of slack or surplus associated with each resource or limitation. g. 2 Points: In cells H12:H15, write the type of inequality associated with each constraint using either “<=,” “>=,” or “=.” h. 2 Points: In cells I12:I15, write the appropriate word (either “Slack” or “Surplus”) to indicate the nature of the leftover resources or limitations.

    Overview

For this assignment, you will logically extend the functionality of the Maze Game introduced during the lectures, via the modification of the code base as well as documentation and implementation of various user stories.

    Timelines and Expectations

    Percentage Value of Task: 20%

    Due: Thurs 23, 2019 – 23:55

    Minimum time expectation: 20 hours

    Learning Outcomes Assessed

The following course learning outcomes are assessed by completing this assessment:

Understand the significance of detailed project planning and control, good communication and documentation and the use of appropriate tools in order to provide a quality product

Understand the distinction between software engineering and programming, and thus the distinction between a software configuration and a program.

Understand the methods and techniques involved in designing, implementing and maintaining an information system, in particular using an object-oriented approach

Understand how unit tests are used during software development to assist in agile programming techniques such as refactoring

Demonstrate skills in designing and implementing an information system Demonstrate skills in designing Unit tests

    Assessment Details

You are required to logically extend the functionality of the Maze Game introduced during lectures, via the modification of the code base as well as documentation and implementation of various user stories. You will use the Boost methodology discussed during lectures, which requires the use of pair programming. All documentation, other than the customized game map, must be completed individually.

The code base provided for this assignment has already implemented the “warm up” and some “sets”. You will be implementing numerous other “sets” for this assignment using the Boost methodology. The “warm down” stage is not required.

You are free to take ideas discussed during lectures and implement these in your own version of the code base provided in Moodle for this assignment.

This assignment will be marked according to the functionality of your code, in addition to the elegance and extensibility of your design and the quality of your documentation.

the effect on the marginal propensity to spend

    Question 1

Consider the following information about the demand for
goods and services All variables are in billions of dollars

    Consumption Function: C = 1000 + 09 YD

    Investment Demand: I
    = 1400

    Government Purchases: G = 1500

    Taxes: Ta = 1000 +
    015 Y

    Transfer Payments: Tr
    = 1100

    Exports: X
    = 800

    Imports: Imp = 1200

a Suppose that the potential level of output is $12,000
billion Use the above information to calculate the size of the output gap?the
actual level of output minus the potential level?if the economy is at
equilibrium, that is, the actual level of output is the equilibrium level Show
your work and illustrate the size of the output gap graphically with a
    Keynesian cross diagram

b Calculate the size of the trade deficit or trade surplus
at equilibrium Be clear whether there is a deficit or a surplus

c Suppose that next year the economy reaches potential
    output, that is,

the equilibrium level of output next year is $12,000
billion Calculate the magnitude of the exogenous change in aggregate demand
that is necessary to achieve this result Show your work

d Now assume that Imports also vary positively with income
    such that

    Imp = 1200 + 01Y

First, explain what will be the effect on the marginal
propensity to spend, that is, on the slope of the AD curve and illustrate
    graphically

Second, explain what will be the effect on the multiplier
Be clear about the form of the multiplier and why it changes
