materials we use. During the semester, a handful of readings will be assigned outside of class

and those readings will be discussed in class. To a certain extent, these reading assignments will

relate to the content we are covering in class to help connect the material we are covering in

class to examples from everyday life.

Part of this assignment will involve you providing an article about a recent event or topic

that relates to chemistry and a 2 – 3 page write-up of that article. This will be due at the end of

the semester, May 5th. You will need to provide a copy of the original article from a scientifically

reputable sources, and a 2 – 3 page (size 12 font, double-spaced) write-up of the article. The

write-up should include the relevant background on the chemistry related to the article, what is

the reaction, material, conditions or process. The writeup should also introduce how the article
