A quantitative analysis of the current market for cheap wine, based on the illustrative model given in the table above (first row, highlighted); and an evaluation of the effects on this market of three possible policies: (i) implementing a $13 per litre price floor on wine (i.e. $1.30 per standard drink, in addition to the current tax); (ii) replacing the current 29% proportionate price tax with a volumetric tax of $5/L ($0.50 per standard drink); and (iii) a combination of these two policies.
  2. An illustrative model showing the operating position for an individual price-taking producer of cheap wine, currently in long-run equilibrium; with an analysis of how this firm will be affected by these three polices.
  3. A discussion of alcohol policy, drawing on the three papers supplied, and of your results. Comment on how these policies affect consumers, producers, the government, and society overall. 1 Aim

The purpose of this experiment is to give an introduction to the mathematical modeling concepts using MATLAB which include: state-space equations for some standard realisations, transfer functions, similarity transformations, system responses,

    and block diagram simplification.

    2 Introduction

MATLAB is a computer-aided engineering system that provides a control engineer

with a designer’s workbench. It provides an integrated software environment with

commands for matrix analysis, digital signal processing, control system design and

analysis, system identification, robust control, optimization, etc.

MATLAB can also be regarded as an interactive computer language that provides

an operating environment for the analysis and design of multivariable systems. Powerful matrix-handling capabilities are provided without cumbersome syntax. Unixlike file-handling commands provide access to data files on disk. Graphical outputs

are created using the same kind of natural commands that are used to manipulate

matrices. For the new user, MATLAB can be thought of as a computer-aided engineering desk calculator. For the advanced user, MATLAB has syntax and commands

that form a complete very high-level programming language with facilities for direct

interfaces to users’ FORTRAN and C programs.

To invoke MATLAB, execute the command

You are contacted by a small Club owner who wants you to help with making a Website for an online

Booking System that will help the club in managing the bookings for their 10 function rooms.

Currently, Club maintains a manual booking system that is increasingly becoming difficult to manage

for the staff. The current system is erroneous and time taking.

    Current System:

Currently, for Booking a function Room, a customer calls or comes in person to the club. The club

admin helps them to choose the function room based on various factors – Day, Time, Number of

hours, Number of people and availability.

The staff will then suggest them if the booking is available and if it is available then Customer will

need to pay a 10% deposit to confirm the booking. But currently, a lot of time is spent to find a suitable

function Room as well as to be sure that the function room is available for the whole time as per the

    customer request.

The customer will pay the rest amount on the Booking day after the function Room has been used.

The customer is also liable to pay for any damages (if any) made to the room during their occasion.

The main objectives of this New Booking system are:

Book for a function – This system will help customers in making a booking for a Function Room.

Every function room has a different capacity and rates per hour. Function rooms need a booking for

    minimum two hours.
