Seasons Manufacturing manufactures a product with a unit variable cost of $100 and a unit sales price of $176. Fixed manufacturing costs were $480,000 when 10,000 units were produced and sold. The company has a one-time opportunity to sell an additional 1,000 units at $140 each in a foreign market which would not affect its present sales. If the company has sufficient capacity to produce the additional units, acceptance of the special order would affect net income as follows:

A company has a process that results in 15,000 pounds of Product A that can be sold for $16 per pound. An alternative would be to process Product A further at a cost of $200,000 and then sell it for $28 per pound. Should management sell Product A now or should Product A be processed further and then sold? What is the effect of the action?
Process further, the company will be better off by $20,000.
Sell now, the company will be better off by $20,000.
Process further, the company will be better off by $180,000.
Sell now, the company will be better off by $200,000.

Evaluate the following 2 countries to identify which represents the most potentially attractive…

You must structure your report in the same order as the assignment tasks set out below.

While the word count for the report is 3000 words (+ / – 10%), the suggested word limits below are based on your using the extra 10% word limit and are merely indicative.

Remember to number the pages, starting with the first page.

——————————————————————————

Lidl(https://www.lidl.com/)is a German global discount supermarket chain operating across some 30 countries globally. The company is looking to further expand internationally.

Using Lidlas a case company, produce a report that addresses the 5 following tasks:

TASK 1.

Evaluate the following 2 countries to identify which represents the most potentially attractive target market for Lidl’s future international expansion strategy:

  • Mexico
  • Norway

In order to evaluate which of these 2 countries represents the most potentially attractive target market, you are required to undertake a comparative PESTEL analysis of those macro-environmental factors of the 2 countries that are relevant to Lidl.

– Worth 20% of the overall mark

– Not included in the word count

  • This background analysis must be included as an appendix, presented in table format and must be no more than 5 pages in length.
  • Data should be recent, primarily quantitative and obtained from appropriate sources (e.g. the most recently published World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness report).
  • A scoring system should be used for each macro-environmental factor / sub-factor for each country to show whether each factor / sub-factor is more or less attractive for your company. These scores should then be totalled for each country in order to arrive at an overall scoring of attractiveness for each country.
  • Further guidance on undertaking the comparative analysis of the 2 countries is available in the Assignment Briefing slides on Blackboard.

TASK 2.

Discuss the rationale for the selection of your chosen market. Your rationale should be justified with a more detailed discussion of your PESTEL analysis of the macro-environmental factors of your chosen market that you have presented in the appendix for Task 1. This discussion should explicitly consider the implications of the macro-environmental factors of your chosen market for Lidl.

– Worth 20% of the overall mark; 825 words.

  • This task must be presented in the first section of the main body of your report.

TASK 3.

Apply the 5-Forces model to critically analyse the competitive intensity of the industrial environment of Lidlin your chosen market. A SWOT analysis is not acceptable.

– Worth 20% of the overall mark; 825 words.

  • This task must be presented in the second section of the main body of your report.

TASK 4.

Analyse the firm’s internal environment in order to EITHER:

i)critically evaluate the resources and capabilities of Lidland the competitive implications of these for the company when entering into your chosen market (this will require an application of the VRIO framework)

OR:

ii) identify Lidl’s internal value-adding activities and critically evaluate which of these will be most relevant in supporting the company to enter into your chosen market (this will require an application of the Value Chain model).

A SWOT analysis for either option is not acceptable.

– Worth 20% of the overall mark; 825 words.

  • This task must be presented in the third section of the main body of your report.

TASK 5.

Critically evaluate the various modes of entry available to Lidland recommend – with justification based on the findings of your analyses in Tasks 2, 3 & 4 above – the most suitable mode of entry that will enable this strategic international expansion to be a success for the company.

– Worth 20% of the overall mark; 825 words.

Teacher says I am missing the stuff below. I do not have a thesis statement…

My suggestions were to improve the critical analysis issues. The details you currently have are great.

    Ideas: http://www.forbes.com/sites/85broads/2014/06/30/why-companies-should-focus-on-working-parents-not-just-moms/#47c591997c67

    https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/education/report/2013/05/08/62519/the-importance-of-preschool-and-child-care-for-working-mothers/

You have some good information in your previous draft, so don’t toss it all out!

The issue is that your paper is simply focusing on why being a working mother is stressful. The problem with this is there is no “So what” or potential solutions where you ca really ply your critical analysis skills.

Here’s why “so what?” is important. Being a parent is stressful. Being an employee is stressful. Being a person is stressful. Stress alone is not a justification for change.

    Why is it important
for our whole society that we support working mothers more? Your paper seems to be focusing on general definitions of stress, and why working mothers experience it. My biggest suggestion is to focus on why we as a society as a whole will benefit from supporting working parents more in their efforts. By not doing so, what do we lose? Don’t think of this in personal terms, like laying more of the load on other employees who will resent it and damage their own personal time and stress levels, or putting the impetus on small employers who cannot afford to support the families of working parents. Research and examine ways we can collectively engage with this issue, that can arguably benefit more than the individual, working parent.

CT6 – Rough Draft Daylene Bush GT-CO2 Colorado State University – Global Campus Rose Bunch  June 19, 2016 Single Working Mothers and Stress INTRODUCTION The workplace environment poses many challenges for employees from a variety of backgrounds. Single working mothers face obstacles and concerns that require the ability to balance their work responsibilities with their role as parents, which contributes to levels of stress and anxiety. When only one parent is present in the home, this may take a toll on personal wellbeing over time (Schmit, Matthews, & Golden, 2014). As a result, many mothers may experience difficulties that contribute to health problems, difficulties in establishing or maintaining relationships, financial hardships, and mental or psychological. Therefore, it is necessary to recognize stress in the workplace for single mothers as an important issue and to improve upon the resources that are available to these mothers in order to effectively manage their needs. What would it take to successfully establish and maintain support systems for single mothers to help them become an active member of the workforce? Therefore, implementing successful programs that will This could improve their work-life balance and minimize these risks, and this issue will be addressed by using research to determine and approach that will have a long-lasting impact on the lives of working single mothers. In today’s society many single mothers are young and on state aid programs which cost the taxpayers’ money? NO THESIS Stress is a difficult issue for many working mothers, as they often face many responsibilities in the home environment that involve raising their children and earning sufficient income to survive (Williams, 2016). The issues of stress in the workplace are a worldwide problem that affects everyone today. Dealing with stress either at work or outside the workplace affects a large population causing physical and emotional problems. The two major…
