Assignment 2: Course Project—Business Planning – Part II

The group of investors who saw your presentation several weeks ago seemed impressed and believed your business had potential. However, they gave you some feedback that you needed to hear. Your presentation did not include financials, organizational structure, employee skill sets, your background and brief bios of others involved, as well as who your stakeholders are and the nature of your commitment to them from an ethical standpoint.

Using this input plus the feedback you received from your instructor on the first part of your project, complete the finished version of your business plan presentation. You will update your MS PowerPoint presentation developed in Week 3 and prepare an additional 6 – 9 PowerPoint slides to address the following:

• Financial projections
• Sources of capital
• Organizational structure
• Key roles and the bios of those filling them.
• Employee skill sets needed
• Statement of commitment to the stakeholders.

Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_W5_A2.ppt.

Submit your business plan presentation to the W5: Assignment 2 Dropbox.

When creating your business plan presentation, include the following:

Business Plan Part I

• Title and business name.
• Describe the form of business ownership of your business and explain the advantages and disadvantages of establishing your business in this form.
• Identify the objective(s) of the business.
• Describe your intended customers.
• Marketing plan – Specifically describe your major product(s) or service(s).
• Marketing plan-Explain how you intend to promote your product(s) or service(s)
• Marketing plan- Discuss the pricing for your major products (items) or services.
• Marketing plan – Identify your channels of distribution; how you intend to get the products or services to your customers.
• Explain the economic factors that will impact your business.
• Identify your main competitors or competition factors that may impact your business.

Business Plan Part II

• Estimate of the amount of startup capital you will need, and examples of how the money will be used.
• Projected income – how much money you intend to make over the next year, month by month.
• Sources of finances – where you intend to get your startup funds
• Functions within the business.
• Key owners/staff and brief bios to include skills and qualifications needed for the business functions.
• Ethics and social responsibility statement.
• List of references using APA format of sources you used to research the business plan. Include at least three resources one of which may be your textbook.

Refer to the grading rubric for insight into grading criteria for this assignment.

Guided Response: Review and critically answer two of your classmates’ questions. Include any resources that you found to support your answer. You can also include questions in your response that will further the discussion on the topic. 

UNIT 10 JOURNAL

You will complete a Journal each week.

Each week you will work on one aspect that will help you prepare for the course and reflect. Consider this Journal as study notes. This Journal will provide an opportunity to capture new ideas from knowledge gained and record your thoughts throughout the course. This will also give you an opportunity to record questions you may wish to research further in preparation for other assigned work. Please remember that copying and pasting your own notes without revising is a form of self-plagiarism.

Final Paper 

The purpose of the Final Paper is for you to culminate the learning achieved in the course by demonstrating your knowledge of organizational management by synthesizing the information from class into work and life experience. 

Focus of the Final Paper

Think of an organization you have worked for or one with which you are very familiar.  Diagnose the need for change and present a plan to transform the organization, utilizing Kotter’s 8-Step Approach.

Include the following sections headings and additional sections as needed:

1. Introduction
2. Company Overview
3. Diagnosis
4. Kotter’s 8-Step Approach
5. Conclusion

The Final Paper for the course must be submitted to the instructor by 11:59 p.m. of the time zone in which you reside on the last day of the class.

Writing the Final Paper
The Final Paper:

1. Must be eight- to- ten double-spaced pages in length (excluding the title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide.
2. Must include a title page that includes:
   1. Title of paper
   2. Student’s name
   3. Course name and number
   4. Instructor’s name
   5. Date submitted
3. Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement.
4. Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
5. Must conclude with a restatement of the thesis and a conclusion paragraph.
6. Must use at least five scholarly sources.
7. Must use APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide to document all sources.
8. Must include, on the final page, a Reference Page that is completed according to APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide.
