Crowdsourcing in the field of interface design takes tasks traditionally performed by specific individuals and spreads them out among a group of people or a community. These assignments are usually done through an open call. Crowdsourcing has become increasingly popular with the growth of Web 2.0 and online communities.

Write a fifteen to eighteen (15-18) page paper in which you:

1. Examine the invention and growth of crowdsourcing in the field of interface design.
2. Describe the impact that crowdsourcing has had on the field of interface design.
3. Analyze and discuss at least three (3) benefits of incorporating crowdsourcing in a design project.
4. Analyze and discuss at least three (3) challenges of incorporating crowdsourcing in a design project.
5. Propose a solution for generating interest in your design project from an online community.
6. Suggest a solution for evaluating the skill set and quality of the code submitted by potentially unknown users.
7. Describe how crowdsourcing may affect the budget and timeline of a design project.
8. Assess crowdsourcing in regard to the legal, societal, and ethical issues it raises, and suggest methods to alleviate these concerns.
9. Use at least five (5) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

• Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

This week, find a current article, (no older than 3-5 years), in a magazine, newspaper, blog, or on YouTube, that discusses the veteran experience such as stigmas, the transition to society, lifestyle, and skills. The media that you select should be one that is targeted for the general public. It would from a popular source such as an article from Newsweek Magazine, New York Times, or a blog, rather than from a scholarly source. Scholarly sources are peer-reviewed by experts in the field prior to publication. Popular media sources are not peer reviewed.

In a 1-1.5 page report, 300-350 words, summarize the main points of the media and its overall message. Submit in the assignment section.

Inclusions/Requirements:

• Your name and date at the top of the page in the header section
• Name and link of the Media
• A brief summary of the main points of the media
• Discuss how the veteran was portrayed and if you think it was positive or negative
• Discuss whether it was accurate, or ill-informed/inaccurate in some way. Provide rationale.
• Describe how you think this media will influence viewers (positively or negatively)
• Recommend what you would like to see included or changed in this media to improve accuracy of information and/or portrayal of today’s veterans.
• A reflective conclusion

The purpose of this Assignment is to explore how a theorist explicates his or her philosophy and thoughts behind a theoretical field. As in other fields of study, nursing has a plethora of theorists and theories. These theorists have developed their paradigm over time enriching it with research and dialogue with other theorists.

Directions

You are going to explore how a theorist of your choice created his or her theory. Did it develop as an acorn becoming a mighty oak over the decades? Did it arrive as a burst of light like the big bang as some believe created our universe? Was it developed from a blueprint like a spaceship where thousands of scholars worked together to create a rocket to the moon? In point of fact, how is a theory developed? This is what we are exploring.

You will pick a theorist who interests you, it does not have to be a nurse theorist. You may also choose from other disciplines such as: behavioral, leadership, business, education, technology.

You will become the theorist immersing yourself in the writings from the earliest mentioned to the most current.

As you read, look at how you (taking on the persona of the theorist) developed the theory.

In the first stage, theorizing occurs. This is where you, as the theorist, identify the concepts of what nursing is and is not. Perhaps you questioned what concepts were guiding those in nursing practice and then started to question your role. You started asking yourself, “Where am I in nursing, and where the profession is going? Is there some overarching concept that guides the professional in his or her practice?” This is where you recognize that a theory is needed.

In the second stage, syntax is developed. This is where you will define the terms. Look for changing definitions of terms. Consider, for example, Jean Watson. She starts by defining the word “caring.” Within the last ten years she has refined her terminology changing the term caring to caritas. This demonstrates a growth and maturation from decades of research she and other scholars did to produce the theory of caring.

The third stage is theory testing. Defined as the phenomena behind the theory that are exposed through research. The definitions of terms are refined. The theorists and other researchers consider whether this theory helps answer questions that arise in practice. This is where your theory is used in by a widening group of researchers. For example, graduate nursing students request the tool you developed while testing your theory.

The fourth and last stage is evaluation. This is where philosophical debate occurs as the concepts are applied through evidenced based practice in the act of providing nursing care.

For this Assignment, you are going to write an article for a nursing journal explaining how you developed your theory through the four stages (theorizing, syntax, theory testing, and evaluation). Your paper must be 3 to 5 pages, not including the title and reference pages.

ARTT200 – Survey of Art History: Prehistory to 1400

A 5 page (approximately 1500 – 2000 words, NOT including illustrations!) descriptive, comparative analysis of 2 art works of your choice, detailing the art historical references. You are required to provide information about the artist, style, media, and date, as well as the cultural and stylistic significance.

The two examples should be similar in media, style, theme or subject matter.

Objectives:

To reflect upon and analyze the synthesis of styles and influences, and make connections between commonalities in influences and themes.
To further explore and identify the cross-cultural exchanges evident in the examples – through the study of style, technique, iconography and ornamentation.
To recognize and trace the inter-connectedness of the global cultures throughout history.
TERM PAPER GUIDELINES:

~ Choose 2 (two) works of art from the time period that will be covered in this course – Prehistory to 15th century. Each of the examples should be from different cultures, or periods. Make sure you select works of art that is accessible and at the same time challenging enough to sustain your interest.
~ Why did you choose to write about this piece?
~ Develop a thesis or an argument around which to organize your research. Discuss the works of art in sufficient detail. The paper should compare and contrast the two examples, and should be based on your visual observation as well as material covered in class.
~ Consider the significance or meaning of the work of art. Remember, when discussing subject matter, that it is not the same as the meaning of the work. Include any relevant iconographic references.
~ What are the stylistic or cultural characteristics of the period – this should reflect the circumstances under which the art was created. Compare and Contrast the 2 examples:
~ Explore the similarities and differences of the two works.
~ Your introductory paragraph should state the main point of the comparison.
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN ANALYZING AND COMPARING WORKS OF ART:

Identity

• What is the title?
• Who made it?
  Style
• What are the formal elements of design (line, color, composition etc.)
• What is the medium or material?
• Is the subject depicted naturalistically, idealized, abstract or a combination?
• What are the origins of the style; does it show influences of earlier ones or is it a reaction to those?
  Function/Purpose
• What is the theme – is it sacred or secular?
• What is the purpose of this object or structure?
• What message does it communicate?
  Cultural Context
• What is the period or culture?
• What was happening historically, politically religiously, intellectually and economically at the time that these were made?
• Do historical events or overall aesthetic tastes relate to the image/narrative depicted?
  Consult at least 2 other written sources beside your text book to learn more about the work. Please use JSTOR. You may use the Internet in addition to this.
  Make sure to acknowledge your sources by using footnotes. Internet sources should be cited as well. Include a complete bibliography.
  Remember to include an illustration of the examples
  Finally, make sure that there is an introduction; that there are clear connections between paragraphs and that your conclusion is satisfactory.
