CA408- Part A. And B.

Look through your favorite news sources and identify an article on science reporting. Your example should summarize a scientific article by explaining the goal of the project, its findings, and the reporter’s take on the project. Then analyze the project itself, are there any weaknesses in this experiment?

PART B. (75 Words)

Identify an event from the past when research did not follow ethical guidelines. For your opening thread, share a link to the event you found and explain what happened. Then discuss why ethical research is so important. Why do scientists need to be extra careful with research that uses human subjects? Do ethical guidelines restrict the boundaries of research?

Global Economy

hapter 16: Q#1: Looking further into the chapter, theoretical grounds of policy implementation, Buse et al., (2012) argue that policy implementation is the execution of a formulated policy – turning theory into practice. When turning theory into practice, the authors stated that it was common for certain observations. What are those observations? Briefly identify, and provide a brief narrative for each of these observations.

Chapter 16: Q#2: The authors from this case study research regarding public policy implementation continued to state that, the bottom-up approach was developed from the criticism of the top-down approach that mainly focused on what? Please identify this focus, and provide a brief narrative to support your answer/response.

Chapter 16 – Following the chapter reading, the authors assert that the twentieth century is considered as the century of population explosion and fossil fuels burning, environmental policies and the transition to effective use of renewable energy sources as a priority with a strategic focus on specific countries around the world. In addition, this move has created several different projects whose main focus is to formulate policies associated with climate change and energy governance. Many of the policies and projects identified aim to support the energy sources switching between fuels like fossils and nuclear power to renewables like solar, wind, and or water. Specifically, the chapter provides the foundations of policy implementation, and methods as well as investigations of five policy implementation case studies through a comparative analysis.

The Role Capitalism Plays

Capitalism is an economic and political system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state whereas socialism is a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. (Shaw, William H. (2014). Business ethics (8th ed.). Boston, MA: Wadsworth, Cengage Learning). In this assignment, you will define the roles capitalism and socialism play along with the pros and cons of each.

In two to three (2-3) paragraphs:

Briefly define, in your own words, the concepts of capitalism and socialism. Then list three pros and cons of each.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

Evidence-Based Leadership Change Project

  1. Evidenced-based Leadership Change project:

Instructions for Leadership Change Paper:

Observe your environment in the health care facility where you have clinical and monitor the

site for signs and symptoms of the need for change. Look at the nursing processes in place: do

they work efficiently, are infection control practices being done routinely. Anything can be a

catalyst for change as long as it adds something positive to the establishment. Then, diagnose

the problem that indicates a need for change:

1.

Pick a change theory. Lewin’s change theory is used widely in nursing. Despite this fact,

there are many other change theories you can use like Spradley’s theory of change,

Lippitts change theory or Roger’s theory of change. Pick the ones that best suit the

change you are trying to bring about.

2.

Put a plan together. Using your selected change theory, develop a plan based on each

step of the theory you have chosen. Your plan should address what you will do to solve

the problem you have diagnosed. It should include activities that will combat the

problem and bring about change, a method to measure the success of the plan such as a

quiz and a way to make the change permanent. Be sure to include a timeline or

timetable for your change project. It needs to have a beginning and an end.

3.

Type a 4-5 page double-spaced, APA formatted professional paper that describes your

project and submit to your instructor at the end of the semester. The paper has to

include:

An introduction: Brief description of the issue & Purpose of the paper

Assessment of the environment which needs to be changed: Current practice,

organizational structure, deriving and restraining forces, advantages of change,

cost and resources for implementing the change.

Planning: Goals of change, phases of change, timeline, how you will mobilize the

driving forces and minimize the restraining forces and plan of evaluation

Implementation: Needed training and education and methods

Evaluation.

Conclusion

  1. Discuss the change theory you applied to the problem you diagnosed and

all the activities you planned for bringing about change.

For any prompt you should use this video as the basis for your analysis. for our assignment, you only need to watch the first 40 minutes or so.

Choose one of the following areas to answer for your paper:

Fallacies

In lecture and in your textbook we have covered the concept of fallacies. Given what we’ve studied, (1) explain fallacies (including at least 3 specific fallacies most relevant to the debate), (2) analyze how well the AFF and NEG did at avoiding fallacies (make sure to use specific examples) giving each side a grade from A-F, and (3) explain and justify who you think won the debate.

Toulmin Model

In lecture and in your textbook we have covered the concept of the Toulmin Model. Given what we’ve studied, (1) explain the Toulmin model (focus on the 3 main parts), (2) analyze how well the AFF and NEG used the Toulmin model when making arguments (make sure to use specific examples) giving each side a grade from A-F, and (3) explain and justify who you think won the debate.

Inductive Reasoning

In lecture and in your textbook we have covered the concept of the inductive reasoning. Given what we’ve studied, (1) explain Inductive Reasoning (focus on 3 types most relevant to the debate), (2) analyze how well the AFF and NEG used inductive reasoning when making arguments (make sure to use specific examples) giving each side a grade from A-F, and (3) explain and justify who you think won the debate.

The structure of your paper for the prompt should include:

First, an introduction to your paper

Second, explain the concept in sufficient detail including any related concepts.

Third, a discussion of the performance of each team on your subject

A paragraph on AFF including your grade A-F and why that grade

A paragraph on NEG including your grade A-F and why that grade
