The Case for Academic Progression

Please do a paragraph about this post with this instruction .

post most have 4 or more sentences .

you also have to have a high quality post from a content perspective. This means it also needs to do more than agree with or praise a class mate. If you agree with a classmate, explain why, give an example, share what you learned in the readings

The current research that links patient safety outcomes to ADN and BSN nurses are simply stating that the quality of patient care depends on the level of well-educated nursing workforce. Research have shown that there are lower mortality rates, fewer medication errors, and positive outcomes, which are linked to nurses prepared at the baccalaureate and graduate degree levels. AACN) is committed to working collaboratively to create a more highly qualified nursing workforce since education enhances both clinical competency and care delivery. Some of the research that show a connection between baccalaureate education and lower mortality rates, and linking nursing education to patient outcomes.T he research showing that hospitals with a more educated nursing workforce have lower mortality rates and better patient outcomes. No one is saying that you, as an ADN-prepared nurse, are causing harm to your patients. Here are the facts: medication errors, hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), and other issues that lead to poor outcomes are largely due to system and its problems. This systems approach does not seek to pin blame on an individual – rather, it takes the view that minor human errors are inevitable, but become magnified in the context of poorly designed systems. And instead of focusing on punishment, the systems approach seeks to identify situations or factors that are likely to result in medical errors, and change the underlying workflows or systems of care, to reduce the impact on patients. To help correct systems errors, health careneeds more nurses that are prepared to implement solutions – and the BSN curriculum emphasizes leadership and evidence-based practice in a way that the much shorter ADN program cannot. The changes taking place in health care will eventually affect the way you practice nursing – that much is certain. For instance a recent experience which was occured in my unit. A 74yr old female patient shows delerium and dementia features all of sudden during the treatment plan. primary physician and team members behind on searching what was the reason for this occurance, One of my collegue who is working as a clinical nurse specialist and identifyies that this patient is having Tardive dyskinesia and it helped to maintain aspiration precaution. So from this experiences I strongly believe that education in nursing can prevent lot of medical errors and thus improve the outcome of patient care.In September 2013, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) released an issue of its Charting Nursing’s Future newsletter titled “The Case for Academic Progression,” which outlined how patients, employers, and the profession benefits when nurses advance their education. Articles focus on the evidence linking better outcomes to baccalaureate and higher degree nurses, educational pathways, and promising strategies for facilitating academic progression at the school, state, and national levels RNs) seeking to advance their education to the baccalaureate and higher degree levels.

Personal Class Design Project

Personal Class Design Project: Part 2

Using the “Personal Class Design Project – Part 1” assignment you began in NUR-647E, you will complete the course design to include learner objectives, outline, teaching strategies, and associated evaluation, and method.

Using Part I, write and revise the original learner objectives submitted.

Use the A-B-C-D method of writing objectives. The objectives should incorporate Bloom’s taxonomy, be written at the appropriate level for the audience, and include at least two learning domains (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective). Refer to “NUR-649E – Nursing Education Seminar II: A-B-C-D Approach to Objective Writing” and “NUR-649E – Nursing Education Seminar II: Learning Domains.”

Map out a class time frame, outlining when to cover each of the content areas. Refer to “NUR-649E – Nursing Education Seminar II: Lesson Plan Template.”

In addition to the content area, include the class time frame:

1.Time frame for covering each topic area

2.Teaching strategy for each objective

3.How the learning will be evaluated

Include rationale for each selected instruction and the evaluation method used.

Support your rationale by citing at least three scholarly, peer-reviewed resources (less than 5 years old) in addition to the course materials.

There is no predetermined length for this assignment. It is intended that each student will develop a class that can be utilized in the student’s selected area of education.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

Quality Improvement

Quality Improvement:Nancy, FNP, is the clinical director of a nurse managed health center that is connected to a School of Nursing. The center’s staff members includes of all advance practice nurse providers, a nurse educator, a nursing informaticists, 2 RNs, and paraprofessional staff. The team wants to determine patient satisfaction and capture data on patient experiences both for QI and as a learning experience for students studying nursing. What AP roles, core competencies and support are needed to make this happen?

This week you will be assigned to a group and be given a domain to develop/discuss applying all or some of the 7 core competencies.Group members need to assume AP roles (clinical and non-clinical) either by volunteering or being assigned by the group leader. A group leader must be decided and may be a nurse manager/nurse administrator, CNS, NP (maybe more than one and from different specialties), NI, and NE. CNLs and RNs may be also be part of the group scenario. All members are expected to demonstrate leadership knowledge and skills, but also must be willing to follow. Each group will demonstrate the core competencies and principals of transformational leadership in the group work. (See rubric). To ensure understanding of leadership styles, each group member will discover their own professional leadership style by an individual self-assessment online.Assignments and responsibilities should be equally assumed by group members. The final evidence of the group work will be power point presentation that discusses the scenario addressing the assigned domain, the roles and the outcomes. Please note that although a group project, individual grading rubric will be used to determine individual grades.(See below).

The master’s prepared nurse demonstrates leadership in the four domains: the profession of nursing, clinical practice arena, health policy arena, and systems level. The impact could be found in health promotion, disease prevention/management, and quality improvement and/or within management of a health system. In order to complete this assignment, each group member will complete an assessment about your leadership style and post to the group area their leadership style.

These are:

Cherry, K. (2016). What’s Your Leadership Style? Learn more about your strengths and weaknesses as a leader.

In conclusive remarks, search and agree upon a quotation from a library article related to leadership in an advanced nursing role and include with how it applied to your clinical decision/management issue of your assigned domain.Leadership journals from SOU Library are The Journal of Nursing Scholarship or Nursing Leadership Forum or the American Journal of Nursing, Journal of Nursing Administration, Nursing Administration Quarterly, Nursing Management or Health Care Management Review
