2 Establish statistics volume projections for the budget year 2015 for all four (4) departments.

3 Establish a position control plan for the new Psychiatric Unit. (Part of Nursing)

4 Establish a position control plan for nursing and laboratory.

5 Complete expense item for laboratory & radiology for 2015.

6 Project the expected net revenue for all Medicare, HMO, and all Other Insurance patients.

The percentage breakdown of patients by payor mix is as follows:

In the new fiscal year, the hospital plans to:

1 Establish a separate distinct 15-bed inpatient psychiatric unit.

2 Install new equipment in the laboratory to enable the hospital to do 35% more tests in-house rather than send them to a reference lab.

3 Recruit a general surgeon and a Internist.

4 Purchase an additional CT scanner which is expected to increase current radiology volumes by 3.25%.

This week’s discussion has highlighted some of the very issues we deal with in our areas of practice. Going through the stages of group formation, I tried to evaluate the various groups I am a member of and noted that most of them are in the performance stage. This is because most of us found them in existence when we joined the setting.

Groups and teams foster a culture of collaboration, an integral aspect of nursing. Through groups, the individual distinctions are better managed and focus shifts to the group purposes that are always aligned to the organizational vision (Finkelman, 2016). Some of the goals include the implementation of evidence-based nursing, improving the nurse’s well-being, and supporting the goals of the organization.

Through groups, staff existence is fortified as they foster a sense of togetherness as well as harmony (Marquis & Huston, 2015). Groups establish a culture of shared purpose and collective responsibility. They also promote the level of interaction among members and therefore should be encouraged and supported (Finkelman, 2016).it is through groups that individual variations are better tackled and the commitment towards the goals of the organization fortified. As a result, they bring together individuals with distinct habits and traits to work harmoniously (Marquis & Huston, 2015).

Groups play a major role in nursing and should be supported by nurses. They provide us with the opportunity to address issues that we may never address an individual’s and create solidarity among staff members. While at times they may be destabilized, the focus should always be on how they should be strengthened.

My study will include the Simulation Theory of Empathy Model because this model can be incorporated in the study from beginning to end. The goal of my research is to measure empathy among first and fourth year nursing students and demonstrate the contrasting scores after empathy simulation labs are conducting among fourth year students. I am also considering incorporating the professional Quality of Life Scale. Research suggests there is a potential connection between compassion fatigue and the type of clinical practice and I would like to explore this further in my research by incorporating students in clinical rotations in either behavioral health or cancer care settings. ProQQL assesses compassion satisfaction as well as compassion fatigue (Michalac, Diefenbeck, & Mahoney, 2013). Both of these models are relevant to my research since my research is based on identifying compassion fatigue among nursing students and implementing empathy training to combat the effect of CF.
