Evidenced-Based practice

Question Description

Please respond with a paragraph to the following question, add citations and references:

Evidenced-Based practice (EBP) is described as a problem-solving approach that integrates evidence assembled from studies and experiences of medical professionals (Wallis, 2012). EBP helps nurses make solid clinical judgments to deliver the best patient care and clinical outcomes.

There are several barriers to implementing EBP. The two most often mentioned are lack of time and support from health organization (Wallis, 2012). As Wallis (2012) explained, resistance from nurse staff begins with the nurse managers and nurse leaders, which should not be the case if we want to implement EBP. Nurse leaders and managers are often looked to for support when the time comes for making changes about practice, policies or procedures. They are expected to be role models and a source of support (Wallis, 2012).

One strategy that should be utilized to overcome these barriers is to “strengthen beliefs about the benefits of EBP” (Melnyk, 2002, p. 151). Education is an indispensable tool as it will help nurse leaders and nurses become more familiar and increase their knowledge about EBP.

A second important strategy to decrease the barriers to implementing EBP is to create a culture in which it is strongly valued (Melnyk, 2002). It is vital that the staff understands and appreciates the value of EBP as this can make implementation easier. Furthermore, the support and encouragement of administration is the key element for success in implementing EBP (Melnyk, 2002).

Health Care Spending

Health Care Spending

The continued growth of the healthcare industry gives hope for better services and improved health care (Nickitas, 2013). As the range of services develops, it also increased the cost to the patient (Dickinson, Bulley, & Oliver, 2014). According to Marquis and Huston (2012) in the mid-1960s two of federally sponsored health insurances are Medicare and Medicaid that provides health care program for the citizens. Medicare is for ages above 65 years old with chronic illness, while Medicaid is a combination of federal-state cooperative health insurance for citizens that are financially challenged to meet their health care needs (p. 216). This discussion aims to assess the consequences to the payers and providers of continuing current levels of health care expenses and which among the stakeholders should make health care decisions.

The growing population needs more available and trained health care provider to provide the best care for the patient. The practice of visiting a hospital for every health condition is now transitioning to urgent care which is more accessible and available for the patient. Hospitals and clinics are designed to treat patient’s health condition, but if we are not rendering the appropriate care, the patient tends to have complications that could lead for readmissions, the patient will spend and pay more to their health insurance. It is significant for the patient to have available information to make choices and decisions for his own health. Reliable information of its cost, comparison of several treatments, as well as its side effects can improve efficiency and effectiveness of health care (Nickitas, 2013).

Community/Public health nursing

A current event in health care policy is out-of-control drug pricing. “When it comes to prescription drugs, the problem is the price” (Caramenico, Jan., 2019). Drug manufacturers are taking advantage of a broken market for their own financial gain being there is lack of competition, transparency, and accountability in the prescription drug market. As a result, everyone pays more. Health insurance providers continued finding solutions that can lower drug costs while ensuring access to new medications.

As a healthcare professional, this issue has several concerns for me. I have known patient not t be able to take their medications or the incorrect dosage due to the inability to afford their medications or the medications are not covered under their prescription plan. There are times a patient is instructed to take a medication twice a day, but will just take one a day, again because of the cost. Another concerning issue is when insurance will not pay because they feel the medication is not justified.

Community health nursing can be involved as a change agent for related healthcare policies. “The more a nurse knows about the political process, the more he or she tends to become involved” (Nies, & McEwen, p. 166, 2016). Nurses can become politically active by assuming leadership roles. We can use local and state resources or even national advocacy groups to gai understanding of current issues. As nurses we must see ourselves as professionals and know that we can be influential becoming involved and address issues for he health and well being of the public.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center

Details:

While the implementation plan prepares students to apply their research to the problem or issue they have identified for their capstone change proposal project, the literature review enables students to map out and move into the active planning and development stages of the project.

A literature review analyzes how current research supports the PICOT, as well as identifies what is known and what is not known in the evidence. Students will use the information from the earlier PICOT Statement Paper and Literature Evaluation Table assignments to develop a 750-1,000 word review that includes the following sections:

  1. Title page
  2. Introduction section
  3. A comparison of research questions
  4. A comparison of sample populations
  5. A comparison of the limitations of the study
  6. A conclusion section, incorporating recommendations for further research

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

Human Resources Management

Human Resources Management: Case Study

Happy Valley Hospital is a community-based health care facility with a reputation for providing quality health care services to the residents of Happy Valley and its surrounding markets. The hospital has a 288-bed acute care facility with a twelve suite family oriented birthing center, a forty four bed long-term care inpatient facility, and a fourteen bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.

Happy Valley has two major competitors, CMC and GH. CMC have four hundred beds and is a tertiary acute care facility. It specializes in women and children’s services, serves as the regional trauma center, has a large and active emergency department, and provides cardiac services, including open-heart surgery. GH has two hundred beds, a small cancer center, and a kidney dialysis unit.

Happy Valley Hospital has received numerous recognition awards for excellence in health care during the past five years. Because of its reputation for clinical excellence, it has not had difficulty in retaining its nursing and clinical staff.

However, recently there have been changes in leadership at CMC at the levels of CEO and Vice President of nursing. Employees of Happy Valley Hospital in several key areas have been drawn to work at CMC because of the promises made by new management for better pay and working conditions. They have begun to relocate in large numbers to CMC. Happy Valley now faces a serious employee shortage among registered nurses, radiology technicians, and respiratory therapists.

On the basis of your understanding of the above case study, express your views on the following:

  • How should the management at Happy Valley Hospital retain their existing staff members?
  • What steps should the management at Happy Valley Hospital take to ensure smooth running of the hospital operations in such a crisis situation?
  • In your opinion, what should the recruitment team at Happy Valley Hospital do to overcome serious employee shortage among registered nurses, radiology technicians, and respiratory therapists?

Conduct a literature search to locate research articles focused on your selected practice problem of interest.

The first step of the EBP process is to develop a question from the nursing practice problem of interest. (An example is attached). this is supposed to be one big research paper which is supposed to be done over 5 weeks for my class developing each part every week.) (So this part is choose a nursing practice problem of interest, develop PICOT and gather literature. The details are below.)

Select a practice problem of interest to use as the focus of your research.

Start with the patient and identify the clinical problems or issues that arise from clinical care.

Following the PICOT format, write a PICOT statement in your selected practice problem area of interest, which is applicable to your proposed capstone project.

The PICOT statement will provide a framework for your capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN-BSN program of study).

Conduct a literature search to locate research articles focused on your selected practice problem of interest. This literature search should include both quantitative and qualitative peer-reviewed research articles to support your practice problem.

Select six peer-reviewed research articles which will be utilized through the next 5 weeks as reference sources. Be sure that some of the articles use qualitative research and that some use quantitative research. Create a reference list in which the six articles are listed. Beneath each reference include the article’s abstract. The completed assignment should have a title page PICOT Statement and a reference list with abstracts.

APA STYLE REQUIRED VERY CREDIBLE SOURCE REQUIRED, AS IN LEGIT RESEARCH ARTICLES (This whole instructions seems lots but this part of the assignment is pretty small, but i wanted to make sure you have all the details so you have an idea.)
