COIT20249 Assessment DetailsAssessment item 4—PortfolioDue date: See page 2 for details about submission deadlines for each item. Submit each item as a separate file. ASSESSMENTWeighting: 30% 4Length: Depends on each activity.ObjectivesThis assignment is designed to develop a portfolio of resources that you can use during your degree. The compilation of your Portfolio is progressive throughout the term. Please refer to the Unit Profile to see how this assessment item relates to the Unit Learning Outcomes. These objectives will be measured by the ‘closeness of fit’ to meeting the assessment requirements and the marking criteria.General Assessment CriteriaAssessments provide the opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills to achieve the required standard. To do this, assessment responses need to be both clear and easy to understand. If not, the University cannot determine that students have demonstrated their knowledge and skills. Assessments will, therefore, be marked accordingly including the potential for 0 (zero) marks where relevant. All assessment items must focus on the topics given in the specifications for each item. Any assessment items outside the required topic may be awarded 0 (zero) marks. All portfolio items require students to write about your views, reflections and/or experiences from a personal viewpoint. Therefore, all items must be written in first person unless other requirements are stated in a portfolio item. Various written communication conventions have been discussed in the unit content and you should follow the writing styles appropriate for each assessment item. Do NOT simply write in ‘conversational’ style even when writing in ‘first person’ perspective. The length of each submission must be within the recommended range. If the submission significantly exceeds the maximum word count or the page length the marker will stop marking. If you use Track Changes when writing your submissions, you must ensure that the submitted document is the final and correct version of the document. That is, if your submitted document contains Track Changes or Comments or any other editing marks it may be awarded 0 (zero) marks. It is your responsibility to submit the final and correct version of your Portfolio items.Files that are auto-submitted will not be reverted to draft status except in extenuating circumstances. It is your responsibility not to leave draft assessments in Moodle at the due date and time if the files are not ready to be submitted for marking.Academic IntegrityStudents must write the Portfolio items themselves. You may be asked to prove that you have written the Portfolio items. You should keep evidence that you have written the Portfolio items yourself, for example, early drafts of your Portfolio items.ALL assignments will be checked for plagiarism (material copied from other students and/or material copied from other sources) using TurnItIn. If you are found to have plagiarised material or if you have used someone else’s words without appropriate referencing, or if you have shared your work with other students, you will be penalised for plagiarism which could result in zero (0) marks for the whole assessment item NOT just the individual submission. In some circumstances a more severe penalty may be imposed. The University’s Academic Misconduct Procedure is available in the policy portal https://www.cqu.edu.au/policy.Useful information about academic integrity (avoiding plagiarism) can be found at:CQUniversity referencing guideshttps://www.cqu.edu.au/student-life/services-and-facilities/referencing/cquniversity-referencing-guidesNote: You need to ensure that your portfolio submissions are free of any spelling, grammatical and typographical errors before submission.Formatting and Structure:Each portfolio item should demonstrate a logical flow of discussion, and be free from typographical, spelling and grammatical errors. They should be prepared in MS-Word (or equivalent) using 12 point font, 1.5 line spacing and margins of 2.54 cm. Check each assessment page for any other specific requirements.Students may use separate title/cover pages for each submission. Cover/title pages are not considered as a part of the word or page length.SubmissionSubmit each file individually into Moodle using the appropriate Portfolio links in the Assessment block for Assessment item 4 on the Moodle Unit website. Please note there should be four (4) files submitted; one file for each portfolio item. Be sure to check that the correct file is submitted for each portfolio item. The due date for this assignment is in different Weeks:Portfolio_1 is due at 4:00 pm on Friday of Week 7Portfolios 2, 3 and 4 are due at 11.55 pm on Friday of Week 12. Please note the time is changed to 11.55PM from the original 4.00pm.It is STRONGLY recommended that students complete the work during the term using the timeframe suggested in the Requirements section below. All uploaded documents must be fully submitted for marking. At the due date of the assessment Moodle will auto-submit files that have been uploaded and left as a draft. However, any files uploaded after the due date must be manually submitted. This means that if you have been granted an extension or are uploading a late assessment (after the due date) you must complete the Moodle submission process. Further details on completing the submission process are available via the ‘Moodle Help for Students’ link in the Support block of your Moodle website. If your report is left as a draft in Moodle after the due date it will accrue a late penalty. Late submissions will attract penalties at 5% per day of the total available mark for the individual assessment item. See details in the Assessment Policy and Procedure (Higher Education Coursework) at https://www.cqu.edu.au/policy.Important submission information – summary:1. Submit each item as a separate file.2. You can add a title page and it is not included in the Word count3. If you add a title page, please follow the guidelines provided for the Report title page.4. Submit each file as you complete. These are treated as different submission items. Each file will get late penalties (if late), depending on the delay of submission for separate files and not as a whole.Portfolio ItemsPORTFOLIO_1: Annotated Bibliographies and Recommendations (10 marks)BackgroundCOIT20249 Assessment 3 is a Report for which you have to use at least 10 recent references and write several recommendations. At least 6 of these references must be academic references which are peer reviewed journal or conference papers and/or textbooks. Portfolio 1 requires students to begin their research by locating and evaluating two academic references that you can use for the Report.Portfolio 1 Requirementsi. Find 2 peer reviewed journal articles or conference proceedings that relate to your Report topic for this Term, using the ARE and Triple R frameworks you learnt in Weeks 2 and 3. Both references must be from the last 5 years (dated 2013 onwards) and must be directly relevant to the technology focus of the case study of the Report (Assessment 3). Do not use textbooks, working papers or government papers/reports etc. as references for this assessment (Portfolio_1). Check with your local lecturer if you are not sure about the papers you have selected. In Week 3, you learnt about Annotated Bibliographies, in Week 5 you learnt about referencing, and in Week 6 you learnt about writing recommendations.ii. Write an annotation and a recommendation for each of the references using those skills:• Annotation.o See pp. 132 – 134 in your Textbook and refer to Week 3 materials on Annotated Bibliographies.o The reference must be formatted in CQU APA style. You must provide the DOI or the URL for the selected reference.o Write the annotation in paragraph form.• Recommendation.o Select a finding or a suggestion relevant to your report topic from the conclusion/findings in the article.o Write a recommendation based on that selected finding/suggestion, formatted correctly as covered in Week 6 Report Writing Guidelines.o The recommendation must make sense in light of what you have written in the annotation.iii. Your written submission PLUS BOTH references must be uploaded into Moodle. You must download the articles you selected, and upload them into Moodle with your submission as evidence of accuracy of the articles. You must submit 3 files in total for Portfolio 1. If one or both references are not accessible by the marker, your submission will not be marked for that reference and the sections covered by it will receive 0 marks.Marking criteriaFor each reference:• One or both of the references will NOT be graded if either of them is:o a reference that was provided for PA3 assessment,o not directly relevant to the report topic for the current term,o older than 5 years (before 2013 – see report requirements, all references must be from 2013 and onwards), oro not an academic reference (not a peer reviewed journal and/or conference article).• If the references are not uploaded to Moodle that will also result in 0 marks. Each annotation and recommendation will be marked as follows:• Annotation (3 marks)o Correctly formatted academic reference in CQU APA style (0.75 mark),o Summary of reference, in 1 to 2 sentences (0.25 marks)o Evaluation of author credentials, in 1 or 2 sentences (0.25 marks)o Summary of key findings and themes, in 2 – 3 sentences (0.5 marks)o Explanation of how research has been conducted for this paper, in 1 or 2 sentences (0.25 marks)o Evaluation of the reference – usefulness and limitations of this reference for your report, in 3 – 4 sentences (1 mark).• Recommendation (1.75 marks)o Correctly formatted recommendation as per the Report Writing Guidelines from Week 6 (0.75 marks)o Quality of the recommendation – relevance to the finding/conclusion in your annotation and to your Report Topic for the current term. That is, the recommendation makes sense in light of what was written in the annotation (1 mark).• Common criteria (0.5 marks)o Grammatically correct annotation with no spelling mistakes,o Well-structured annotation in a single paragraph for each reference – easy to read and understand,o Within the recommended length for each reference and submitted as an MS-Word file.Notes:• This assessment should NOT be written in first person perspective. Write in the third person perspective. See example in the Week 3 PPT for Annotated Bibliographies and the Week 6 Report Writing Guidelines for Recommendations.• Each annotation should be approximately 150 – 200 words but comply with the requirements for the number of sentences.• Each recommendation should be concise and no more than 40 – 50 words (maximum length).Example layoutReference 1:Insert the reference, formatted in CQU APA style. Include the DOI or URL if available.Annotation: written as a single paragraph – see requirements and marking criteria above.Recommendation: correctly formatted as per the referencing guidelines in Week 6 materials.Reference 2:Insert the reference, formatted in CQU APA style. Include the DOI or URL if available.Annotation: written as a single paragraph – see requirements and marking criteria above.Recommendation: correctly formatted as per the referencing guidelines in Week 6 materials. Please note that a reference that may not receive any marks as a result of plagiarism and/or other misconduct matters may still be suitable to be used in the Report. Also a Reference that received high marks in Portfolio 1 may become irrelevant if the final version of your submission changes direction closer to the Report deadline. You can use these references for your report but use your judgement before you finalise the Report. As clearly mentioned in the ARE topic, Research and Evaluation are iterative in the ARE process.PORTFOLIO_2: Reflective Writing (5 marks)RequirementsThink about a negative experience you have had in the past, for example at a job interview, conflict in a work situation or a disagreement with a friend or family member. Choose an experience where the skills learnt in COIT20249 would have helped you. Reflect back on that one specific experience and write a short reflective analysis about how you would handle that experience differently now by using skills you have learnt this term. Your response must clearly consider if any of the skills you have learnt from COIT20249 would have helped if you had those skills at the time, or if you can use those skills in future for a different outcome if you have a similar experience. Clearly identify the skill/s from COIT20249 you have considered. For example, identify a Unit Learning Outcome. If the soft skills covered in COIT20249 would not have been helpful, reflect on what other soft skills would have been helpful or if you did not have to improve your soft skills (clearly explain the reasons in that case).Note if you are repeating COIT20249 you cannot reuse your reflective writing submission from a previous term. Please discuss with your local lecturer before the deadline if there is any problem with this requirement.Students discuss this portfolio item in Week 7 but, most probably, will write it later. However, all students must plan to submit the assessment at the end of Week 12 as required.Describe the experience including your exact contribution for the outcome. Demonstrate what you have learnt from the experience, describe how you would handle a similar situation differently in the future, and evaluate the positives and negatives of the experience.Your submission should cover the three key points on reflective writing (see below). This should be approximately 450 words in length. The key points to consider when writing reflectively are:1. You need to demonstrate what you have learned from a particular experience not just describe what happened.2. There is no right or wrong answer—reflective writing is about what you learned from the experience.3. Ask yourself the following questions and give your responses in your writing: Why did X happen? What did I do in X situation? What were the positive and negative outcomes in the situation? How might I do things differently next time? What have I learnt and how does this knowledge contribute to my development?(McCulloch & Reid, 2015, p. 131)Note 1: You should re-read pages 130-132 of the textbook to confirm your knowledge about the technique of reflective writing.Note 2: This assessment is about evaluating yourself and your experience; it is NOT about evaluating others. Make sure you have an active role in the experience you are using for this reflection.Note 3: Write this assessment from the first person perspective. You do not need to provide any references for this portfolio item.Marking CriteriaYour submission will be marked as follows. Write under the relevant headings (separate paragraph) per each section as given below.i. Reflection (4.5 marks):1. Include a brief description of the negative experience you had in the past (0.5 mark).2. Reflect on how you contributed to cause the experience; i.e. what exactly did you do? What aspects of your behaviour made this situation better or worse? Were your action/s positive or negative? This is not about what any others did but what you did (1 mark).3. Demonstrate what you learned from the experience (1 mark).4. Describe what you would do to handle the experience differently in the future using any of the skills you learnt in COIT20249 or if these skills wouldn’t help, what other skills would be useful. Otherwise, write why you may not have to do anything different (1 mark)Note: You have to focus on only one of the requirements in point 4 (whichever is applicable to your experience).5. Evaluate both the positive and negatives impacts of your overall experience (1 mark).Note: This is about the overall lesson learnt from the experience and not about what you did as per point 2 above.Use the three key points listed above to check that you have written reflectively about your experience. Ensure that you have addressed all 5 points.ii. Common criteria (0.5 marks)o Grammatically correct with no spelling mistakes,o Well-structured reflection, written under separate headings and paragraphs for each of the five points above. Easy to read and understand,o Within the recommended length (400 – 500 words) and submitted as an MS-Word file.PORTFOLIO_3: Responding to an Ethical Scenario (5 marks)RequirementsIn week 9 you learnt about making decisions in various ethical situations, about the Australian Computer Society (ACS), and its Code of Ethics and the Code of Professional Conduct. Understanding who you are and how you relate to others in both your personal and work life can make you aware of the values that are important to you as well as the values that you may need to work on to improve your professional standing. This portfolio item is designed to make you think about how to respond to an ethical scenario as a good ICT professional. As you are training to be an ICT professional you should refer to the ACS Code of Ethics and/or ACS Code of Professional Conduct in your response (referred below as ACS documents). Your response should be approximately 400 words.Scenario:Ghost writing is a term used to describe a situation where students submit work for assessment that was written by someone else. The original author is not mentioned and the student claims that they wrote it themselves. This is a very serious form of academic misconduct. You are a student at Central Queensland University. Getting your degree is important to you as you want to get good grades so that you can get a good job. It is imperative to you that you work hard to create all the assessment submissions yourself except when it is a group assessment. It is by working hard to achieve good grades that you will ensure that you are best-placed to successfully apply for a good job. Recently you heard that some students in your class who you are friendly with are paying Ghost writers to complete their assessment items. This concerns you as you think they will get good grades for their assessment items when they have not written the assessment themselves. This is not fair to all those students who wrote the assessment themselves. You feel that you should tell the lecturer what your friends are doing but you are scared of losing your friends.Task:Write about 400 words (in 2 – 3 paragraphs) outlining how you will respond to this ethical dilemma – do not explain the situation again. Consider your options in this hypothetical scenario. What will you do in this situation? Will you tell the lecturer or someone else at CQU or will you decide not to tell anyone because you do not want to lose your friends? Or will you take any other actions? Explain what you will do and the reasons for your actions, referring to the ACS Code of Ethics and/or the ACS Code of Professional Conduct (ACS documents). You must correctly reference the document/s using the CQU APA style and cite them in-text.Note that you should not use any other references for this assessment item than the ACS documents. If you use different references, it will not increase your marks. If you do not use the ACS document/s as your reference/s or do not refer to them, you will lose marks. You do not need to refer to the all ethical elements and sub-elements in these documents. Select only the element/s relevant to your answer.Note: Write this assessment from the first person perspective.Marking CriteriaThe submission must address on the correct scenario and the task for this Term to be considered for marking and feedback. It must be submitted as a Word Document with text. Otherwise it will receive 0 marks and no feedback.Your response should include the following:1. What will you do in this situation in the case scenario and why? (2 marks)2. What elements from the ACS document/s would you consider as the basis for your actions and why? Indicate the particular element/s in the document/s you are referencing. (1 mark)3. Referencing – cited and listed the relevant ACS document/s as per the requirements; and complied with the correct citation and reference list formatting according to CQU APA referencing style (1.5 marks)Note: Referencing format should be based on the Other Electronic Sources format in the CQU APA guidelines pages 43 – 44 (Document on the World Wide Web – author/sponsor given, either dated or not dated as per the reference you use).4. Grammatically correct, well-structured with separate paragraphs and easy to read and understand, within 350 – 450 words, and submitted as an MS Word file (0.5 marks).PORTFOLIO_4: Successful Completion of COIT20249 (10 marks)RequirementsThis portfolio item requires you to justify that you have successfully achieved the Unit Learning Outcomes, and to provide feedback about your experiences with the Unit. The response should have two parts and the total length should not be longer than 2 A4 pages.Part A – JustificationThe Unit Profile provides a list of Learning Outcomes you are expected to have achieved after completing this Unit. From the Unit Profile:On successful completion of this Unit, you will be able to:1. Justify how the work you have completed this term has satisfied all eight (8) Unit Learning Outcomes. Please note it is important that you JUSTIFY how you have satisfied the Unit Learning Outcomes with examples. Do NOT just summarise the Unit content and/or assessment items OR define the Unit Learning Outcomes. In short paragraphs, respond under the following themes (use relevant headings) and refer to relevant Learning Outcome/s from the above list. Managerial Finance Task 2: Project EvaluationQuestion 1 (10 marks)RWE Enterpris

Managerial Finance Task 2: Project EvaluationQuestion 1 (10 marks)RWE Enterprises Pty Ltd is a small manufacturing firm located in Brisbane. RWE is considering setting-up a new plant. The plant has an upfront cost of $3 million. The proposed plant will have a life of 10 years at the end of which it can be sold for an after-tax scrap value of $200,000. The management estimates that the new plant will add 700,000 to after-tax profits during each year of its life. Midway through its life, that is, at the end of 5 years, the plant will have to be refurbished at a cost of $2 million.a) What are the full 10 year cash flows associated with the plant? That is, make a cash flow diagram showing the yearly cash flows from year 0 to 10.b) If RWE uses a 10% discount rate to evaluate investments of this type, what is the net present value of the project? What does this NPV indicate about the potential value RWE might create by purchasing the new production line? Explain.c) Calculate the internal rate of return and profitability index for the proposed investment. What do these two measures tell you about the project’s viability? Explain.d) Calculate the payback period for the proposed investment. Interpret your findings.Question 2 (10 marks)Jason Katz graduated from University of the Sunshine Coast in December and has started working for Innovative Investments. When Jason arrived at work on Monday morning, he found the following memo on his desk“To: Jason Katz, Financial AnalystFrom: George Adams, CFORE: Project EvaluationProvide an evaluation of two proposed projects with the following cash flow forecasts:Project A Project BInitial Outlay (275000) (275000)Year 1 50000 100,000Year 2 75000 100,000Year 3 100,000 100,000Year 4 125,000 100,000Year 5 175,000 100,000The company requires a rate of return on both projects equal to 12%. As you are no doubt aware, we rely on a number of criteria when evaluating new investment opportunities. In particular, we require that projects that are accepted have a payback of no more than three years, provide a positive NPV and have an IRR that exceeds the firm’s discount rate.Give me your thoughts on these two projects by 9 am tomorrow morning.”Jason was not surprised by the memo, for he had been expecting something like this for some time. Innovative Investments followed a practice of testing each new financial analyst with some type of project-evaluation exercise after the new hire had been on the job for a few months. After re-reading the memo, Jason decided on his plan of attack. Specifically, he would first do the obligatory calculations of payback, NPV and IRR for both projects. Jamie knew the CFO would grill him thoroughly on Tuesday morning about his analysis, so he wanted to prepare well for the experience. One of the things that occurred to Jason was that the memo did not indicate whether the two projects were independent or mutually exclusive. So, just to be safe, he thought he had better rank the two projects in case he was asked to do so tomorrow morning. Jason sat down and made up the following ‘to do’ list:(a) Calculate payback, NPV and IRR for both projects.(b) Evaluate the two projects’ acceptability using all three decision criteria (listed above) and based on the assumption that the projects are independent. That is, both could be accepted if both are acceptable.(c) Rank the two projects and make a recommendation as to which (if either) project should be accepted under the assumption that the projects are mutually exclusive.Assignment—Prepare Jason’s evaluation for his Tuesday meeting with the CFO by filling out your response

Doing so will result in a mark of 0. You may only make use native of arrays where applicable. If you require additional data structures, you will have to implement them yourself.• If your code does not compile you will be awarded a mark of 0. Only the output of your program will be considered for marks but your code may be inspected for plagiarism.• Read the entire assignment before you start coding.• You will be a orded three upload opportunities. After Completing This Assignment:Upon successful completion of this assignment you will have implemented your own scheduling model for concurrent applications using a precedence graph.BackgroundPrecedence graphs are graph structures used in concurrent applications. They have a variety of uses including, but not limited to, scheduling, proving serializability, con ict resolution, etc. This assignment will focus on a particular type of application involving scheduling.Consider a scenario where multiple entities (people, processors, threads, etc.) may concurrently request service but they can only be sequentially serviced. One way to resolve this would be to issue the entities with numbered tokens which dictate the order in which they will be serviced. There are a numberT1T2Figure 1: Precedence graphs T1 and T2of issues to consider: Firstly, we generally have an upper bound on token numbers and cannot issue tokens up to in nity. Secondly, how do we deal with reaching the upper bound? We cannot simply wrap-around and re-use token numbers indiscriminantly because we risk upsetting the order in which entities would get serviced. Finally, what if entities get tired of waiting and abandon their tokens? The goal here is to set up a system that can issue a limited number of tokens in such a way that one can re-use returned tokens without upsetting the order of service. One can make use of a special type of precedence graph TN to achieve this goal. The Precedence Graph TNTN is a directed cyclic graph which can issue at most N tokens at a time. Therefore, the graph T1 can issue a single token, T2, two tokens, T3, three tokens, etc. The graph uses cycles to maintain the order of the tokens among one another and to allow it to recycle returned tokens. Figure 1 shows the precedence graphs T1 and T2 where vertices represent tokens. T1 is trivial and consists of a single vertex. T2 is a cycle with three vertices numbered 0, 1 and 2. T2 is interpreted as follows: The token 0 comes before 1, 1 comes before 2 and 2 comes before 0. Therefore, if two entities have tokens 0 and 1, then 0 needs to be serviced before 1. The wrap-around occurs in the relationship between 0 and 2, where if two entities have those tokens, 2 needs to be serviced before 0. The reason T2 can only issue two tokens at a time is because of the cycle. It needs at least one open vertex. If it issues all three of its available tokens all at once, what would happen?Graph DominanceIn precedence graphs, a special kind of relationship known as dominance needs to be maintained. Domination ensures order. Consider a graph G with two subgraphs G1 and G2. Subgraph G1 is said to dominate subgraph G2 in G if there is a directed edge from every single vertex in G1 to every single vertex in G2. This relationship between subgraphs becomes important when constructing TN, for N 2. In T2, vertex 0 dominates vertex 2, vertex 2 dominates vertex 1 and vertex 1 in turn dominates vertex 0.Figure 2: Precedence graphs T2 and T3.Precedence Graph ConstructionSpecial care needs to be taken when constructing TN, for N 2. It is not simply a case of adding more vertices into the cycle. Doing so opens up the door for a whole host of potential problems, especially once you consider that tokens may be abandoned in any order without being serviced and they need to be reclaimed. The precedence graph TN is recursively constructed through a process called composition. The composition of the graph G from two graphs A and B is denoted as G = A ? B. Composition creates G by replacing every single vertex v ? A with a copy of B and that particular subgraph becomes Bv in G. Furthermore, if in A, v dominated another vertex w, then subgraph Bv should also dominate subgraph Bw in G. TN is recursively constructed through composition using prior graphs and is de ned with the following recursive de nition:1. T1 is a single vertex representing the token 0.2. T2 is a simple cycle with three vertices representing the tokens 0, 1 and 2.3. TN = T2?TN-1, for N 2.The graphs T1 and T2 are prede ned and subsequent TN’s are obtained by composing T2 and TN-1. Figure 2 shows T2 and T3 side-by-side. T3 was obtained through the composition of two instances of T2. T4 would be obtained with T4 = T2?T3.The representation in gure 2 is cumbersome both in terms of the number of edges added for each subsequent N and with the labeling of the vertices (there are multiple 0 vertices, for example). To that end, the representation for precedence graphs should be simpli ed and the graph TN should be considered as a collection of subgraphs. Figure 3 uses a new notation to simplify the graph T3. With this notation, rectangles are used to denote subgraphs in T3 (there are 3). Each subgraph is then also labled as the vertices in T2. For example, the rectangle labelled 0 represents subgraph 0, the rectangle labelled 1, the subgraph 1 and so on. Furthermore, the depiction of the number of edges is simpli ed in that if there is an edge from one subgraph (in the rectangles) i to another subgraph j, then it means that subgraph i dominates subgraph j. This also resolves the labelling issue of the vertices. Each vertex is labelled by appending its own label to that of the subgraph (and sub-sub-graph, etc) it appears in. For example, in gure 3, the red vertex now represents the token 00, the blue vertex the token 01, the green vertex the token 12 and the yellow vertex the token 21. Figure 4 uses this simpli ed notation to depict T4 and vertices in this graph are labeled concatenating subgraph labels starting at the highest level (the outer-most rectangles) and moving down to subgraphs until individual vertices are reached.Figure 3: Simpli ed depiction of precedence graph T3.Figure 4: Simpli ed depiction of precedence graph T4.ExamplesWith graph construction completed, the graph can now be used to issue tokens.Example 1Consider the graph T2. The starting vertex ( rst token to be issued) is vertex 0. Entity P1 requests a token and receives the token 0. Next, entity P2 requests a token. The next token issued is obtained by considering both the neighbor of the current vertex and that neighbor’s neighbor. If both are available, then issue the neighbor’s neighbor as the next token. In this case, the current vertex 0’s neighbor 2 and 2’s neighbor 1 are both available. So issue the token 1 to P2. At this point the graph is now full and no more tokens can be issued. If 2 was also issued, then we would end up with deadlock. The rst token to be considered for service is 0. If 0 is either serviced or abandoned by P1, then 0 becomes available again and the current vertex for service becomes vertex 1. Because the graph now has an additional token available again, a request for a token is accepted and entity P3 requests a token. 1, the current vertex, has its neighbor 0 checked for availability and 0’s neighbor 2 is also checked. Both 0 and 2 are available so issue the neighbor’s neighbor in this case 2 as the next token and the graph is full again. The process keeps on cycling through the graph.Example 2Consider the graph T3. The starting subgraph S0 is labeled 0 and the starting vertex is the vertex 00. If a request for a token is made, 00 is issued and this vertex becomes the current vertex. Another request for a token is directed to the same subgraph S0. 00’s neighbor 02 and its neighbor 01 are both available so the next token issued is 01. At this point the S0 is now full (it is an instance of T2). If at most only two tokens are ever requested and serviced, then the process will keep on cycling in S0 (identical to example 1). However, if a third request is made for a token and the previous two have not been serviced or abandoned yet, then you move on to the next subgraph which in this case would be S1 with its starting vertex 10. The process for choosing the next subgraph is similar to choosing the next vertex, i.e. a neighbor-of-a-neighbor approach. Issue 10 as the next token. At this point T3 is now full and no new token can be issued until any of the current tokens are either serviced or abandoned. From this point the example can continue in a number of ways.Scenario 100 is abandoned or serviced and becomes available again and the next token up for service becomes 01. T3 can now issue another token. A request for a token comes in and the current subgraph is S1 so the token needs to be issued from this subgraph. Remember that at this point 01 is still active and should enjoy service before any of the tokens in S1. 10’s neighbor 12 and its neighbor 11 are checked. Both are available so token 11 is issued and T3 becomes full again until 01 is serviced or any of the tokens are abandoned.Scenario 201 is abandoned (it cannot be serviced because 00 is still occupied). A new request for a token is entertained from the current subgraph S1. The next available token is 11. Remember, because 00 is still occupied, it should enjoy service before anything else in S1.Scenario 300 and 01 are abandoned or serviced and become available again but 10 is still occupied. Another request for a token comes in. This scenario plays out the same as the previous two. You remain within S1 because it was not full yet and issuing a token now from S0 would be an error because S0 enjoys precedence over subgraph 1.Scenario 400 is serviced and becomes available again. Next, a request for a token comes in and 11 is issued and S1 is now full. Next, 01 serviced and becomes available again. T3 can now issue another token. A request for a token comes in. S1 is full (both tokens 10 and 11 are claimed). Move on to S2 and issue token 20 as the next token and S2 becomes your current subgraph.Example 3Consider the graph T4. The rst subgraph is labelled 0, rst sub-sub graph is labelled 00 and the rst vertex is 000. Therefore we start in subsubgraph S00, which is an instance of T2. A request for a token issues vertex 000. A subsequent request will issue 001 at which point S00 becomes full. A subsequent request for a token moves on to subsubgraph S01 and the token 010 is issued. At this point, the subgraph S0, which is an instance of T3, becomes full. Another request for a token is issued. Because S0 is full, move on to the next subgraph S1 and its rst available subsubgraph S10 and issue the token 100. Now T4 is full and no new tokens can be issued until any of the occupied tokens are abandoned or serviced. If any of the tokens 000, 001 or 010 become available again, then T4 would be able to issue new tokens but the search continues in S10, with 101 being the next available token. If from this point on only a maximum of two tokens are ever issued, the process will cycle in subsubgraph S10.Your TaskDownload the archive assignment5.tar.gz from the course website. This archive contains partial code which you must complete in order to create a precedence graph for a given N. Each method is described in the comments within the partial code given to you. You have to write code to test your implementation in the Main.java le. Your Main.java le will be overwritten for marking purposes. After your graph has been constructed, it should allow for the issuing and servicing of tickets, account for abandoned tickets and return string representations for traversals of the graph. You must create your own make le and include it in your submission.Submission Instructions:Your Main.java le will be replaced for marking purposes. Once you are satis ed that your program is working, compress all of your code, including a working makefile, into a single archive (either .tar.gz, .tar.bz2 or .zip) and submit it for marking to the appropriate upload link (Assignment 5) before the deadline.
