3-5 paragrphs for each question with 2 refs
1)There have been a number of cases in which nursing home patients died as a result of neglect.
What are some of the causes of nursing home deaths?
Should the nursing home be held liable? Should the nursing staff be held liable? Who is responsible?
What do you think the penalty should be for deaths that result from neglect?
2)You have been asked to participate in a local radio program to  address the role of corrections in the community. The audience is  specifically interested in discussing whether corrections should be  focused on one or all of the following functions:

Punishment of offenders
After carefully considering available information and points of view  on the subject, decide which role you believe should be the focus of the  community’s corrections policy. To prepare for the program, create 5  questions you believe callers may ask. Explain your point of view on the  role of corrections in the criminal justice system to each of the  questions asked, and draw a connection to the topic you are researching  for this course. How do issues in corrections correlate with the topic  you are researching?

Choose an issue you genuinely care about.  Using the approach we practiced in class, analyze your issue from three relevant contexts; these will become the three body paragraphs of your analysis.  The goal is to try to stand back from your topic and think about your topic scientifically and globally rather than setting out to argue the point from your gut.  Rough drafts of the analysis are due on Wednesday.   The final analysis should be five paragraphs and two and a half to three pages in length.  You may incorporate a visual, but you must meet the minimum length requirement without the visual.  Your visual should be the only outside source you incorporate.
Please consider the list of contexts when examining your topic.  All papers must follow the syllabus paper policy (12 point font, Times or Arial, double spaced, regular margins) and be turned in on time to receive credit.  You may wish to revisit Bloom’s taxonomy on critical thinking and consider the list of contexts as a lens through which to frame your responses. No outside sources, please — just think deeply before responding.

1.
Joshi
Do the students in the research study have any health concerns that would lead to weight gain like diabetes or hypothyroidism?
This is important to know because if the students in the studies had other health concerns with weight gain as a side effect, then the values of the results would be inaccurate.
How many students were surveyed in this pool of college students?
For example if 50 students were surveyed in this research study then it would mean that only 10-15 students of that 50 were reported obese, to give us the values of 25% and 30%. If the sample size is too small, it can give an inaccurate representation considering that average college campus populations are usually in the upper thousands.
Did the students in the survey all consume alcohol? If yes, then how much and how often did they drink?
The concluding sentence of the research suggests that alcohol consumption is one of the leading causes of obesity amongst college students. Something to remember is, not all college students drink. Of those who do drink, there are so many categories of drinking styles. So without hard evidence that all the college students drank and drank the same amount, there is no reliable proof to this being one of the leading causes of obesity.
2.
1. What studies have shown that college students are vulnerable to obesity?
2. Why do researches believe that it is the lack of access to healthy foods and increase in alcohol consumption and how can we gain more access to healthy foods?
3. How can we reduce the percentages in this passage?
I feel like that sources make a huge impact in our papers or short passages. With that being said, I would like to know where the studies are that shows college students are “vulnerable” to obesity.
How is there lack of access to healthy food? Vending machines throughout a campus is filled with junk food, but that does not mean you have to eat from the vending machine. Walmart has plenty of healthy foods and its pretty easy to access a Walmart.
If the statistics are right I feel like we should put healthier foods in the vending machines to hopefully reduce the percentages that is listed in this passage.

Study More Efficiently by Using some of the Memory Concepts (Assignment 1)
Go to http://www.adprima.com/studyout.htm
Or similar web site on more efficient studying.
Scroll down to “Strategies”, and pick one that seems to appeal to you.
Relate the specific strategy to one of the major memory principles in the text.
You may wish to actually try the strategy on something that you have to learn for a course.
Post your two or three paragraphs in the Discussion Forum provided. Extra credit if you actually tried it out, and include a short report of its effectiveness for you.

Conditioning at Mickey D’s  (Assignment 2)
What do parents do, at a fast food restaurant, to encourage desirable behaviors and discourage undesirable behaviors? Are the principles of operant conditioning being used? You are to visit any fast food restaurant (McDonald’s, Burger King, Arby’s, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, etc.) You are to observe how parents use the principles of operant conditioning, where they misuse them, and where they fail to use them but should. You can observe in the main dining area or the play area, if they have one, or both. You may not include any drive up observations. Then briefly describe one outstanding example for any three of the following categories. You can use three different subjects or use one subject for more than one example. You only need one OUTSTANDING (clear, definite) example for each of the three principles you choose.
There will be three sections to your paper.
Section 1 – Description of restaurant (including if it has a play area), date and time of observation.
Section 2 – Three observations. Each observation labeled with principle of operant conditioning at the beginning. Description of ss (adults and children) including an estimate of age, gender, race. What did you observe that demonstrated the principle being discussed? How effective was the technique?
Section 3 – Comments, including misuse or failure to use, questions that came up, surprises.
PRINCIPLES: Any three of the following four.
1. Positive reinforcement of DESIRED behaviors.
2. Negative reinforcement for failing to show DESIRED behaviors.
3. Punishment for UNDESIRED behaviors.
4. Extinction of UNDESIRED behaviors by withdrawing attention or reinforcing stimuli.

Eyewitness Testimony Assignment (Assignment 3)
First, read about Elizabeth Loftus and eyewitness testimony on pages 228-229.
Then go to Elizabeth Loftus’ webpage and read “Our Changeable Memories: Legal and Practical Implications.”
Next, go to Psychology Professor, Gary Wells, homepage on eyewitness memory. When you get there click on the “Click here to take the Wells eyewitness test” and take the short test. (Note: it moved a little slow when we did it so be patient).
After taking the Wells test, go to some of the links on Wells page and read the news stories and articles on eyewitness testimony.
Now, after you have done your research write two page paper about eyewitness testimony and memory. Here are some questions to think about to help you get started:
How accurate is eyewitness      testimony?
What are the problems with      eyewitness testimony as it relates to memories?
Can people actually have      false memories? What could cause this?
What are the implications      for society?
How does this apply to our      legal system? Do you still have faith in eyewitness testimony during a      trial?
Enjoy your research and we look forward to reading your papers!

Schedules of Reinforcement Assignment (Assignment 4)
Go to http://www.psychology.uiowa.edu/Faculty/wasserman/Glossary/schedules.html
and your text for a review of the various schedules of reinforcement.
The two dimentions along which to vary the availability of reinforcement are TIME and Number of Responses.
Interval schedules are based on time passing, like a weekly pay check (Fixed interval).
Ratio schedules are based on the number of responses that an organism makes.
The literature suggests that behavior is partially determined by the schedule of reinforcement that we use. With kids, training dogs, or with our spouse or work peers, often the WAY we give a reward is as important as the reward itself. Can you apply this to your everyday life?
Using whatever resources are available to you, give an example and determine the ADVANTAGES and DISADVANTAGES OF EACH OF THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULES OF REINFORCEMENT:
Continuous Reinforcement Schedule
Fixed Interval Schedule
Fixed Ratio Schedule
Variable Ratio Schedule

Building from the Drug Report and based on the illicit substance chosen for that assessment, this analysis/essay is to critically examine attempts to control use of the chosen substance. Where possible, discussion should focus on Australia. The essay must provide: ? A description of current approaches to reduce supply, prevent/reduce use, and reduce harms associated with use, of the chosen drug in Australia ? A critical analysis of the effectiveness of these approaches, namely what does or does not work? ? Recommendations as to what approaches could be adopted by authorities in Australia to more effectively reduce supply, prevent/reduce use, and reduce harms associated with use, of the chosen drug. You may wish to consider approaches adopted by other nations.Note: Critical examination/analysis requires that you go beyond description and that you consider in-depth, the ideas and issues raised. This requires application of key concepts and themes as well as support from valid research. The report is 2000 words (+/- 10%) and must be structured and written in a formal academic style. As such, students are encouraged to use sub-headings with a minimum of ten (10) valid references required. For references to be valid, they must be academic or otherwise from a legitimate source. Websites should be used with caution. References must be integrated and cited appropriately throughout the body/discussion

MKT00720 – MarketingSession 2, 2018Assignment 1: Case Study AnalysisCore Inform

MKT00720 – MarketingSession 2, 2018Assignment 1: Case Study AnalysisCore Information:Due: Due by 11.00pm AEST, Sunday 5th August 2018Weighting: 30%Individual/Group: Individual AssignmentWord limit: No more than 1500 words (plus or minus 10%). Assignments that exceed 2000 words will be referred back to the author for revision and penalties for late submission will be applied until the assignment has been resubmitted within the specified word limit.Aim: The primary aim of this assignment is to explore your capacity to analyse the marketing strategies and marketing processes of real organisations and determine their effectiveness. It also aims to determine your ability to analyse such practical matters using early concepts (such as marketing intelligence, market segmentation and target marketing to name a few examples) covered in the formative weeks of the unit.Core Task:Basing your arguments on the academic literature that you have studied in the first four topics of this unit, write a report on the ways two different organisations in the same industry have been able to compete in their markets. Your report should discuss the following points about each of the two organisations:1. Evidence that the organisation has a gain a competitive advantage from their marketing processes.2. Theoretical analysis of the reasons for the achievement of this advantage.Your discussion is to be based on two suitable drafted case studies. This means case studies drafted in the academic literature – for example, the series of case studies in a textbook, or drafted in journals etc. Case studies and short articles in newspapers, magazines, website opinion pages and the like are definitely not acceptable, although such materials may be used to supplement the drafted case study and your analysis. Use Google Scholar or SCU Library to find the Articles and case studies. All sources must be properly referenced under Harvard reference guide. If in any doubt about the suitability of a case study, seek an early ruling from your local lecturer/tutor.This is a substantial piece of scholarly work and will require extensive engagement with both unit theory and at least two detailed case studies.Process:1. Choose your two cases. They all need to be drafted cases in academic sources (e.g. textbooks, journal articles). It is obviously important that each case represents an instance of a company achieving a clear success in terms of their marketing function.2. Analyse and locate evidence. Begin to analyse each case in terms of the two questions – particularly question one listed previous. It is vital that you respond to both questions, but the evidence successful marketing practice is more likely to be in the case material itself. It is in this part of the process that you might bring in supplemental material from company documents/websites, media analysis and so on. Be sure to reference all sources properly. You need to try and show clear and where possible objective evidence of sustained competitive advantage.3. Analyse and explain. You need to move from the presentation of evidence to explaining how the company/organisation was able to achieve its success through its strategies. This part of the assignment requires you to consider any aspect of the marketing strategy process and/or any aspect of the organisations’ marketing-based strategising that you think has enabled them to sustain their competitive advantage. You will need to show that you understand relevant theories and concepts from the course and that you can apply them to an analysis and assessment of different companies’ marketing actions and performance. Consider using relevant models and theoretical perspectives to make your analysis. For example, you might find that one successful organisation has executed its marketing strategy by applying Ansoff’s Matrix in a disciplined manner, whereas another successful organisation has executed a successful marketing strategy by consistently exploiting some interesting form of customer segmentation. You may find an opportunity to critique various concepts and theoretical positions through seeing how they apply or don’t apply to your case organisations. Evidence that you understand and can use tools discussed in the early topics of the unit will add value.4. Write up. On completing your analysis, you obviously need to write it up. You should respond to this task in report format, with headings and subheadings used to help readers understand the structure of your paper. A possible structure might be:a. An introduction which both sets up the task and the rest of the paper, and introduces the core concepts that the task is designed to deal with. You might also take this chance to scope the work – for example the time frame that will be used to assess the marketing success for the case organisations.b. Description of the two cases. Describe each case, each organisation and the sources of your information.c. Evidence of Marketing-related success (leading through to a competitive advantage for the firm). Marshal all the evidence that you can that you think reveals that each organisation has well and truly found success in the marketing realm.d. Analysis and Explanation. Provide a detailed analysis of how each organisation achieved its success in marketing terms.e. Conclusion. Summarise the key points and what can be learnt from the overall analysis.5. Submission. Once you have completed the report and are satisfied that you have done your best, submit it via Turnitin on Blackboard. Submission needs to be made before 11.00pm on Sunday 5th August 2018. Please be reminded of the plagiarism rules which apply. The marking criteria for the assignment are on the next page. They are drafted to give you detailed guidelines about the way in which your mark will be calculated. Please read them carefully.
