For some of the class sessions, your will post a one page summary of a current article or issue you have researched, read, or listened. These international issues must be hospitality related and reflect to the objectives of the week (PowerPoint chapter lecture notes can be found under Content in Beachboard). It is important to provide your comments. Please cite the reference where you obtained the information.

Assignments will be graded based on the following:

Reflection to weekly learning objectives-50%

Length of article summary at least a half page-25%

Length of personal comments at least a half page-25%

Voice of the Customer

For In the “Understanding the Voice of the Customer at LaRosa’s Pizzerias” case study on pages 227 and 228, LaRosa’s Pizzerias implemented the Voice of the Customer process to design its restaurants to address customer needs and expectations and ultimately allowed the restaurant chain to gain significant market share.

1. Develop a customer satisfaction survey of eight questions. The questions must be relevant to the case study that the project team would use to solicit appropriate responses on the restaurant design concept from current and potential customers both inside and outside the restaurant’s current market area. Explain your rationale for each question selected.
2. For each of these survey questions, identify two critical to quality (CTQ) performance characteristics for each survey question and discuss why they are important to customer satisfaction.
3. Based on the customer requirements that LaRosa’s has identified and considering the design concept the company has adopted, examine the customer profile (based on age, lifestyle, etc.) the restaurant is targeting.

Writing the Assignment Paper:

1. Must be three to four double-spaced pages in length and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide.
2. Must include a cover page that includes:
   1. Title of paper
   2. Student’s name
   3. Course name and number
   4. Instructor’s name
   5. Date submitted
3. Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement.
4. Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
5. Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.
6. Must use at least two scholarly resources, including a minimum of one from the Ashford Online Library.
7. Must document all sources in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
8. Must include, on the final page, a Reference Page that is completed according to APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide.

Job Description Paper

The primary function of the job description paper is to increase understanding of your current, or a prospective, position. The following areas of the job description should be considered:  

·         Tasks,

·         Tools and Technology,

·         Knowledge,

·         Skills and Abilities, 

·         Educational Requirements

Submit a paper in which you describe each of the above mentioned areas of the job description from the vantage point of your chosen position. Provide two or more ways that you would advertise or recruit someone for that position (see chapter 4 of the textbook). In addition, include a description of at least two methods of assessment used when recruiting qualified candidates and why these two assessment methods would be most appropriate.

Writing the Job Description Paper:  

·         Must be three double-spaced pages in length, excluding the cover page and reference page, and formatted according to APA style as outlined in your approved style guide.  

·         Must include a cover page that includes:

o Name of paper o Student’s name

o Course number and name

o Instructor’s name

o Date submitted  

·         Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement.

·         Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.

·         Must conclude with a restatement of the thesis and a conclusion paragraph.

·         Must use APA style as outlined in your approved style guide to document all sources. 

·         Must include, on the final page, a Reference List that is completed according to APA style as outlined in your approved style guide and has at least one reference in addition to the text.

Focus of the Reflective Paper

The primary function of human resource management is to increase the effectiveness and contribution of employees in the attainment of organizational goals and objectives. Consider all the areas of HRM that have been discussed in class:  

·         EEO and Affirmative Action,

·         Human resources planning, recruitment, and selection,

·         Human resources development,

·         Compensation and benefits,

·         Safety and Health, and   

·         Employee and labor relations.

Submit a Reflective Paper in which you explain how these aspects work together to perform that primary function. Are any aspects more important than the others? Why or why not? How do you believe the HRM role can be optimized for shaping organizational and employee behavior?

 The Reflective Paper must: (a) identify the main issues in the chosen area, (b) demonstrate new learning that has occurred, (c) include class activities or incidents that facilitated learning and understanding, (d) identify specific current and/or future applications and relevance to your workplace, and (e) reflect the potential impact to your future career plans or even in your personal life at home. The emphasis of the Reflective Paper should be on parts ‘d’ and ‘e,’ and on the application of new learning. Explore, in depth, the benefits of the new learning and understanding that has taken place.

Writing the Reflective Paper

The Reflective Paper:

1. Must be seven to eight double-spaced pages in length, excluding the cover page and reference page, and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

2. Must include a title page with the following:

a. Title of paper

b. Student’s name

c. Course number and name

d. Instructor’s name

e. Date submitted

3. Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.

4. Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.

5. Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.

6. Must use at least one scholarly source, in addition to the text.

7. Must document all sources in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. 

8. Must include, on the final page, a Reference List that is completed according to APA style as outlined in your approved style guide and has at least one reference in addition to the text.
